Planning to go on a field trip or volunteer in your child's class?

ALL volunteers must complete the CRPUSD Volunteer Registration Process, which includes fingerprinting. Please complete the application form and get yourself fingerprinted. This MUST be completed before you can volunteer. Once this is completed, you are clear for the duration of your child's school experience in CRPUSD, including high-school and middle school!

Do you have a sunflower at home ready to be harvested? UELF students will be exploring seeds and can use more sunflower heads. Please bring the heads to the office in a box or a bag.

UELF & Project Based Learning

As we begin the 2nd month of school, classes are beginning to tie core content to student inquiries. Teachers are building classroom environments that foster student agency, student independence in learning, and a safe environment for taking learning risks and being vulnerable to asking questions. Creating this classroom environment sets up the space to dig into skill building and content investigating. Take time to ask your students the following questions:

• When do you get to share your ideas with your classmates?
• How are you using your ideas with other ideas?
• How are you celebrated when you share an idea?
• Do you like to share your ideas in writing? drawing? with a partner? with your team? with the class? with your teacher?

School? Why should my kid attend?

Participating in the full school day provides your student with the opportunity to create a sense of belonging in their learning. When they miss a day or leave early, it disrupts their flow, they miss elements of their projects and they develop a sense of disconnect. Being sick or getting those much needed medical appointments are understood, however think twice when it comes to picking up your child early for social events, convenience or just because. It does have an impact on student learning and especially student engagement.

Making Smart Choices

Students are hearing Responsible, Respectful, Safe, +Kind. Ask your child what this looks like while at school. Create scenarios and prompt your child to share examples of what it looks like to be one of these characteristics. Be sure to include scenarios that involve recess, food choices, and participation in classroom learning.
