The Silverhawks' Nest
"One Team, One Goal"
February Edition
Silverhawk families,
Happy February! Thank you to all of the families who were able to join us for our Peter Piper Pizza Family Night. It was nice to see students with their friends and families having a good time outside of school, as well as raising $658. We also had our 1st Science Fair with telescopes to view planets and stars. Students did an AMAZING job on completing their Science Fair projects! The projects were creative and showed how knowledgeable our students truly are.
Our next big event will be The Family Sweetheart Dance sponsored by our PTO on February 16th. Please be on the lookout for more information regarding the time and food, etc.
Enrollment for perspective new students is now open!! Please help us increase our enrollment by telling your friends and neighbors about our wonderful school. We are especially looking to increase our student numbers in Kinder, 1st, 4th and 6th grade next school year. Thank you for your help and support with this.
As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to email me at christine.fitzsimmons@dvusd.org or you can catch me in the front parking lot at drop-off and pick-up.
Have a fantastic February!!
Sincerely,
Principal Fitzsimmons
Thank You!!!!!
I would like to give a huge "Thank You" to Meredith, Matthew and Mason's mom, for getting outdoor recess equipment for our students to use during their lunch/recess time. We are all very grateful for the time and effort you put into getting the much needed equipment for our students!!! 🥰🥰
TAX CREDITS
Silverhawk families,
If you are interested in donating Tax Credit money we would appreciate you donating it to our campus. We are in need of replenishing our recess and gym equipment. If you donate please make sure to mark GENERAL TAX CREDIT so we can use it for more than field trips. Thank you in advance for your help and support.
The Arizona tax credit program (A.R.S. 43-1089.01) allows a tax credit of up to $200 for individuals and up to $400 for married couples, filing jointly, in support of extracurricular activities.
The tax credit reduces your tax burden to the state of Arizona, dollar for dollar.
2 WAYS TO MAKE YOUR TAX CREDIT DONATION:
ONLINE at: K-8 & High School Online Donations
MAIL or DROP OFF to the School of Your Choice: DVUSD 2023-24 School Address List
Forms can be downloaded here, and checks can be mailed to the school of your choice. Your tax credit receipt will be mailed back to you. Your tax credit goes directly to the school you choose, not to the state or district.

SPARK UPDATES
I am continuing spring gifted testing for the next three weeks, so we will resume classes after February 20th. My hope is that we can resume as soon as possible, but am excited that we have so many candidates to test!
Once we are back to SPARK, I am going to have students work on an independent "explorer" project where they choose an explorer to study and create a file folder project on the person. (This is much like the All About Me project students worked on at the beginning of the school year). I would like students to present these in class before spring break. I'm looking forward to see who is chosen and what we will learn along the way!
I will be requesting more supplies for projects possibly next month, but if you have any Clorox wipes, tissues, paper towel, or any other class supplies to donate, it would be greatly appreciated. A big thank you to all of those who have helped and donated to past projects already!
