Pirates Post
Week of January 17th
Message from Principal Drew...
Seniors and parents of Seniors graduation will be held this year on June 10th at 7 PM at the Nixon Athletic Complex. While that may seem like a long time away it will be here quickly. As we begin to prepare for your graduation there are a few items that require your attention. If you have not already ordered. your cap and gown please stop by the main office or the guidance office to pick up a Senior packet this week. Our gowns for graduation have changed slightly this year so be sure to order yours soon so that it can be delivered in time for graduation. Also this week, every Senior will receive an email link to help us select the speaker for graduation. Seniors we ask that you take time to reflect on someone who has been impactful in your life and nominate them to be our keynote speaker for graduation. This can be a current teacher, a past teacher, a past principal, or anyone that has been truly impactful in your success. If you do not receive this link please contact Mrs. Baker so that you can be included in the selection of the speaker for your graduation.
As. you prepare for graduation and plan for the future it is also time to apply for scholarships. The deadline to apply for all Perquimans County Schools Foundation Scholarships is February 1, 2022. The State Employees Credit Union Scholarship has a deadline of March 1, 2022. This scholarship is guaranteed to go to a student from our school. Also due on March 1, 2022 is the Golden Leaf Commitment Scholarship. Please contact Ms. Gray for more information and assistance in applying for these scholarships.
Parents we need your help. Our school day starts at 8:00 AM and ends at 3:05 PM each day. Your child has the best chance to be successful if they are in attendance each day for the entire day. While missing five minutes may not seem like an issue on any given day when you compile all of those minutes over the course of the semester your child could be missing the equivalent of 8 full days of instruction in their class. We need your help to make sure that your child is resting sufficiently at night and rising early enough each morning to be on time. Well rested, prepared, and punctual students far out perform their peers that do not meet each of these criteria. You assistance and persistence with this matter is critical to your child's success and we appreciate your support in this area.
This week will be another week full of opportunity for our Pirates.
Monday we will not have school as we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. While we do not have school, our Men's Varsity basketball team will be playing in the Border Clash Invitational at ECSU. The Pirates tip off against Greenbriar Christian Academy at 11:30 AM in the Vaughn Center.
Tuesday all four of our basketball teams will face off with Bertie. Our Women's JV team will start the action at 4:00 PM with Men's JV, Varsity Women's, and Men's Varsity to follow.
Wednesday our swim team will back in action after a very impressive showing this past Friday and our JV Women's basketball will take on Edenton at 4:00 at home.
Friday will see our swim team back in action again as well as our basketball teams traveling to Gates County for games starting at 4:30.
Good luck to each of our teams this week.
