Crescent Lake Connection
Newsletter of Crescent Lake School: Issue 1 - Sept. 12, 2023
Great start for our 2023-2024 CLS Community
We have had a fantastic start to the school year at Crescent Lake School! The first few weeks of the school year are about getting to know one another, learning and practicing rules and procedures, and establishing our class and school community. From our first day assembly, I could see our students and staff were already off to a great start! Students are practicing emergency and safety drills while also engaging in learning games and activities. Throughout the school, we are involving students in discussions about our rules and expectations and then building off of these to identify our hopes and dreams for the school year. It has been a wonderful, and warm, start!
What are your hopes and dreams for your child for this school year? I look forward to engaging you in this discussion next week at our Open House on Wednesday, Sept. 20, from 6-7 pm. I am inviting all new families to CLS including all 4th grade student families, to arrive for a 5:45 mtg in our Dining Room in order to meet and begin our process of working together on your child's journey and education this year.
Please bookmark and visit our school website often for information: https://www.crescentlakeschool.org/ and follow us on Instagram: clsotters

Move with the Music - Join the Band or Chorus!
Any 5th or 6th grade student who did NOT play an instrument last year, are are interested in playing this year, can pick up a sign-up form (green) in the office. They need to be returned ASAP so they can start lessons.
Chorus is meeting today, Sept. 12, for the first time this year. Chorus meets on Tuesday afternoons during school. Students may attend the first rehearsal without commitment to gauge whether or not they would like to join for the year. Once committing to join, students are expected to attend every week through our concerts.
We hope your student chooses to expand their horizons and engage in music this year!
Blue Dog Art Visits New Hampshire & CLS
Last Thursday, Crescent Lake 4th and 6th grade students were able to view original artwork created by artist George Rodrigue. Wendy Rodrigue shared the artwork of her late husband along with stories and inspirational words with our students during a special assembly at school. George Rodrigue's work and the show titled George Rodrigue: Paintings for Myself can be seen at the Museum of New Art in Portsmouth, NH from now until January 2024. This week, there are some special opportunities to hear the presentation in person by Wendy at the museum. Please see this FLYER for more information.

Note from the Nurse's Office
If you haven't filled out the emergency information form online, we have sent one home with your child. Please fill it out and have them bring it back to the main office or the nurse's office. Thank you!
Stay healthy - encourage your child to get a full night's rest by taking away electronics and setting a regular sleep schedule. Washing hands regularly and drinking water will help everyone stay healthy and stay in school.
We will be holding a Flu Clinic in October at school - more information will be coming home soon! If you need to reach the nurse's office, you may call the main office of school or use the email clsnurse@sau49.org
Click the button above for the Free & Reduced application and other meal information for the year. An online application will be available soon!
