Dear FJVD Families,

Finally, as many of you know we utilize STAR Testing for students in Grade K-8. Some of you have reached out with questions regarding how STAR testing works, why we complete these tests, and how teachers effectively utilize the data provided. In order to help answer some of these questions, I've created a brief tutorial video for you. You can find the video HERE. If you have questions or concerns about STAR testing, I would encourage you to view the video and the additional resources mentioned within it. I am also happy to further discuss these tests with you should you have additional questions.
As always, thank you for your continued support.
Have a great weekend! God Bless and Go Saints!
Sincerely,
Mr. Peloquin

The Nurse's Corner
Nurse Cioe and Mr. Peloquin continue to monitor the situation regarding coronavirus carefully. We are grateful for continued guidance from the Rhode Island Department of Health. A reminder that RIDOH encourages the following to help step the spread of coronavirus and other flu-like illnesses:
- Frequently wash hands with soap and water. It is also acceptable to utilize an alcohol-based hand gel. In order to help facilitate this, the school has ordered additional supplies of hand gel which will be made accessible around the school.
- Stay home if you are feeling sick. If a student is displaying symptoms of illness, it is important that he or she stay home from school and see their primary care physician as needed.
- Cough and sneeze into a tissue, dispose of the tissue, and wash hands or use hand-gel afterwards. RIDOH refers to this as "appropriate cough etiquette." In order to help facilitate this, the school will be posting signs reminding students of the appropriate methods.
In addition, we have taken the following precautionary steps:
Custodial staff will wash all door handles, desks, faucets, railings, and other high contact areas regularly with alcohol wipes or another appropriate cleaner.
Custodial staff will clean water fountains frequently throughout the day. In addition, students are encouraged to bring a water bottle into school to fill at the water fountain, rather than drinking directly from the fountain.
Additional disinfecting wipes have been ordered for teachers and staff in order to regularly wipe down desks and other classroom surfaces.

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This opens up
Father John V. Doyle School to new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
