Parent-Teacher Conferences

Conferences present a wonderful opportunity for teachers, parents and, in some cases—students—to sit down together to discuss academic and social progress. They are a chance for participants to ask questions, share relevant information, calibrate expectations, celebrate accomplishments, and set short and long term goals.

Parent-teacher conferences will be held on Tuesday, November 2 (8 a.m. - noon), Wednesday, November 3 (8 a.m. - 8 p.m.), and the evening of November 18 (5 p.m. - 8 p.m.). Please check your email for a link from your child's teacher to sign-up for a virtual parent-teacher conference. You will then use this link to sign-up for a specific time that works on one of these days/times. Once you select your time, a link will be in the message for you to join on that day/evening.

The students will not attend school on either Tuesday, November 2 or Wednesday, November 3.

From the Nurse

Due to the circulating and highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19, CDC recommends universal indoor masking by all students (age 2 and older), staff, teachers, and visitors to K-12 schools, regardless of vaccination status. Staying home when sick is essential to keep illness, such as the flu and COVID-19, out of schools and prevent spread to others.

Please check in with your children before they get on the bus and keep them home if they are not well. These symptoms include:

Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea

Reading News

Now that we have been back to school, students are getting into the habit of reading on a regular basis again. We are seeing students apply things they have learned in previous years as well as what they have learned this year. As the holiday breaks arrive how can we keep our students reading and writing?

We can keep students engaged in reading is setting a regular time and place for reading at home. It could be anytime of the day, but keeping a set schedule and routine helps to prevent skipping reading because school isn’t in session.
To read as a family. You could set aside a time that everyone is reading their own material, or you could read a book as a family.
Talking about what you and your children are reading is another way to make reading an everyday activity. When children see their parents reading and making it a priority in their life, it has a huge impact on their perspective of reading.
Involve them in the planning of holiday activities. They might help you make lists of things you need to accomplish or purchase at the grocery store, or send cards to family members.

Dental News

Are you a Parent/Guardian of a Kindergarten or a third grade student?

Just a reminder that the STATE OF PENNSYLVANIA requires a dental exam that must be completed within one year before school starts for these students. You have two choices, if your child has been to the dentist, have your dental office fill out the Family Dentist Report. If your child has not seen a dentist then the form allowing a dental screening or professional cleaning may be filled out. Either completed form may be returned to your school nurse.

Transportation News

Transportation for the 2021/2022 school year

There are times when we are asked if a new stop can be made. This type of request may take a minimum of two weeks to coordinate and process the information (weather permitting). Such requests would require us to go out and look at a house location to make a better determination if the request can or cannot be done. We ask if you would help us locate you easier, by ensuring your address is clearly posted, and no less than 3 inches tall and visible from both directions and not obstructed from trees, shrubs etc.

Please remind your student(s) of proper bus stop behavior by standing at the stop, and not playing games or horsing around and not going onto or disturbing someone else’s property

Also, please remind your student(s) there are several bus rules and one of them are that there is NO food nor drink permitted on the school bus. There is the potential for another student to have an allergic reaction to that item. The newest rule that MUST be followed is to wear your face covering at all times while on the bus and to stay in the seat that has been assigned to you.
