The Patton Post
Friday, February 2nd
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Friday, February 2nd
What a week we've had here at Patton! A full week of outdoor recess, the sun showing its face AND the best day celebrating 100 days of school today! The students all looked AMAZING in their sports inspired outfits and it was so wonderful to see so much school spirit in the building!
We had a great time sharing and logging "100 Acts of Kindness" and, at lunchtime, myself and Mrs Vignocchi took part in some fun 100 second challenges!
We competed to see who could stick the most stickers on their face, who could toss the most bean bags and who could stack the most dice one handed! Who knew that Mrs Vignocchi was an expert at bag toss and that I could put stickers on my face at a rate of knots? It was so wonderful to be cheered on by all the Panthers. I hope they shared our amazing "minute to win it" skills with you on their way home this afternoon!
February is a short but BUSY month so please be sure to read all the way through this newsletter so you are aware of all the happenings!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Our Monarch Reading Night will be an opportunity for K through 3rd graders and their families to come out to hear some of the nominated books read to them and participate in fun and engaging activities. Each family will choose 3 stations to visit during the night. We will try to accommodate everyone's choices but space may be limited.
After completing the 3 stations we will end the night with a reader's theater of "Our Friend Hedgehog" performed by a group of staff and students. We look forward to sharing our love of reading with our Panthers and their families.

PATTON'S FIRST MULTICULTURAL NIGHT! (2nd POST!)
We are very excited about our first-ever Multicultural Night! As a Patton community, let’s come together to learn about, and teach one another about our many cultural backgrounds. This special event will take place on Wednesday, March 20th at 6:30 PM. The staff at Patton encourages all families in Kindergarten through 5th grade to participate in a school-wide evening of fun and learning.
We would love for families to showcase their cultural backgrounds and help our community learn about your traditions in a fun and creative way! Some ideas include: Lead a craft, create a tri fold poster board, showcase native dance, play an instrument featuring cultural songs, teach a game that your family plays, showcase clothing specific to your culture, teach others how to write letters and words in your native language, anything that is special that you and your family would be excited to share! No food, please.
If you're interested in showcasing your cultural background, here are some ideas:
Host an "exhibit" (These are all optional ways to participate.)
- Make a trifold poster board and include an information sheet with fun facts, photos, and more!
- Bring objects that kids can handle such as maps, flags, textiles, books, toys, clothing, pictures, games, art, etc. to showcase.
- Present a talent such as dance, playing a musical instrument etc.
- Teach a small group a game or craft
- Teach others how to write letters and words in your native language
- Prepare a media presentation to showcase.
OR
Enjoy the Event and visit the exhibits:
- Come dressed in clothing that celebrates your cultural background (optional).
- Visit each exhibit to complete your passport.
Please be sure to FILL OUT THIS FORM to let us know how you'll participate! Please respond by February 23rd! If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Elizabeth Gabianelli at egabianelli@sd25.org

We appreciate the ongoing partnership and collaboration shared in the Patton community. Please note that there is one conference time for each student.
Fourth and Fifth Grade Parents: The conference times are for meeting with your child's homeroom teacher. If your child has a different teacher for math and you have specific math questions, please email him or her directly.
