From the Principal
January 19, 2024
Good People,
Yesterday I was chatting with some students about good "dad" jokes and while I am not great with jokes, I will offer these to highlight our upcoming school musical:
- Why wasn't Sebastian talking to Ariel? He was feeling crabby.
- What happened when Ariel lost her fork? She tried brushing her hair with a spoon, but it was pointless!
- What happened when Sebastian went to the gym? He pulled a mussel.
Next week, over 100 PMS student actors and crew members will present Disney's Little Mermaid Jr. at Robbinsdale Middle School.
Students have been working on the show for over 2 months and can't wait to share it with the public. Please come out and support the arts and our students!

Our New School Video:
Away for the Day
Please check in with your student about their personal devices being stored away or left at home.
The purpose of our practice is to engage our students in their academics, diminish distractions and communicate in person. We have seen them flourish this year with this practice and want to thank you for your overwhelming support.
Rising 7th and 8th Grade Registration
Can you believe we are already talking about next year? We are! We are beginning the registration process for next school year for our current 6th and 7th graders. We will communicate with the students in a class meeting and by counselor visits. Your student should bring home a registration worksheet which you need to review and sign. There are a few changes to our courses and scheduling for next year:
Our art classes will now all be full year. There will be no more semester classes.
All students will take a World Language or Culture & Identity course. We are adding a Beginning Spanish course for students who wish to start Spanish.
Registration will happen during the school day online through Infinite Campus.
Students will no longer be able to drop courses mid-year.
Due to new state law, all students must take two art courses from at least two categories. The categories for PMS will be Music, Visual Art and Media Art.
For our Spanish Immersion students, there is one more change for next year. Your reading course will switch to English and you will be taking Spanish Immersion Reading during the Allieds. This course will simply be called Spanish Immersion 7 or Spanish Immersion 8 and will include Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking as well as Culture in Spanish. The purpose of this change to is increase literacy minutes during the school day.
Please return the registration worksheet(which is located on our website if you need a copy) to your advisory teacher. It is important that you consider your options carefully as these requests are final and will depend on staffing and course balancing.
January Activity Night - Movie & Hot Chocolate
This month your student has the opportunity to stay after school for our monthly activity night on January 30 from 4:15-5:15pm.
The movie is Spiderman: Across the Spider Verse. The Plymouth Parent Association is providing Hot Chocolate! Your student can sign up is on Schoology. This is a positive behavior activity, so your student must have good behavior in order to attend.
Paraprofessional (Educational Assistant) Recognition Week!
Governor Tim Walz has proclaimed the week of January 21–27, 2024 as Paraprofessional Recognition Week.
Paraprofessionals have stepped up in many ways over the past few years —supporting school-age care, assisting with virtual learning, helping deliver meals for students and more. We are grateful for their commitment to meeting the needs of students.
