The Dodge Dish
November 17, 2023
MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL NELSON
DMS Community,
We are quickly approaching the end of the 1st Trimester which will occur on Thursday, November 30th. Please be sure to find some time to check learning levels in Campus Portal. I have posted directions on how to do that below if you are in need of a refresher. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to your child's teacher.
We are nearly a third of the way through the school year. I am extremely grateful for our learners, staff and beyond supportive community. We believe in educating the whole child and I am proud of our learners academic, social, and emotional growth to this point. As a staff we are continuously reflecting on how to best serve our learners.
As a reminder, there will be no school November 22nd - November 24th because of Thanksgiving break. As a result of the break, there will be no Dodge Dish next week.
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving break!
Andy Nelson, Principal

7 MINDSETS THEME - PASSION FIRST
Focus on Strengths – We all have things that we do well. When we do what we’re good at, we perform better and get better results, which benefits both us and those around us. It is critical to play to our strengths and spend our time doing what we’re best at in order to create the most value. It is also important to know that our strengths are much more than what we do well, as they also include the situations in which we thrive and the people with whom we’re at our best. Understanding all of these strengths will multiply our successes.
Explore Your Interests – We all have things we enjoy doing. When we like doing something, we do more of it, even in our free time. When we do things that energize and engage us, our focus is greater, we perform better and improve faster. Doing these things more often, with a greater degree of focus, allows us to become great at them. And when we’re great at anything, the world notices, and value to others increases, and more wonderful things flow naturally into our lives.
Make a Stand – It is very important to play to our strengths and interests whenever possible. It is equally important that what we choose to do is important to us. It must matter deeply, because there will inevitably be challenges, and this will allow us to persevere. We all have to do things we aren’t necessarily good at or enjoy, which is why we must understand our core values. We will always be strongest when we act from our values; this is when we wield our greatest power to overcome obstacles and challenges.
Be Authentic – Great dreams must start within. To do something extraordinary, a dream must leverage our strengths and interests, it must align with who we are (our core values), and it must matter greatly to us. When all this is in place, we perform at our best and are our most determined selves. The fulfillment of all great dreams involves a combination of performance and persistence.

ISD 192 FEDERATED MANAGED APPLE IDS
ISD 192 is preparing to use Federated Managed Apple IDs. This means that by mid-January 2024, only Farmington Area Public Schools will be able to create and use Apple IDs using email addresses with @isd192.org. IF your child is currently using their district @isd192.org email address for a personal Apple ID login, they will need to change the email address to a personal email address to continue to use this Apple ID. The individual’s data and purchases will remain with the Apple ID account. Only the email used with the Apple ID will be updated. This only impacts Apple IDs currently using an ISD 192 district email address.
Apple will be sending email notices with instructions to update Apple IDs using a district email letting individuals know they will need to change the email address used with their Apple ID. As a convenience, instructions are also available from the “iPad First Aid” web clip icon on district iPads.
Please know that Apple IDs are created and managed by Apple. ISD 192 is not able to recover or troubleshoot personal Apple IDs. In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), Apple allows children over the age of 13 to create an Apple ID. If a child is under the age of 13, Apple has a instructions on how parents/guardians may create and manage an Apple ID for their child.
