Principal Weekly Update to Families

The Smile Mobile will be parked at the District Office, February 5–9, 2024, to provide free and low-cost dental services to local kids. The SmileMobile is a dental office on wheels that provides dental care to children living in rural and underserved communities who may have difficulty finding a dentist. The SmileMobile is a partnership of Delta Dental of Washington, Arcora Foundation and Seattle Children’s Hospital. They provide care to babies up through high-school age and pregnant women. The following services are provided at little or no cost for those with Apple Healthcare and without insurance:

• Oral health education
• Examinations
• X-rays
• Preventive care (sealants, fluoride varnish)
• Fillings and simple extractions
• Referrals to local dental care

Families are invited to attend the Hour of Code on Wednesday, January 31, from 5–6 p.m. This is a one-hour opportunity for students to show off their coding skills to their families. There will be opportunities to take coding offline, use coding skills in games and world building, and use coding to control robots. We hope to see you there!

January is School Board Appreciation Month! Prairie Elementary would like to extend appreciation to our Yelm Community Schools Board of Directors. • Friday, February 2: Volunteer Event, 6–7 p.m. in the Prairie Library. The PTO is in need of volunteers to assist with a phone call event. For specific details regarding the event or volunteer, email YelmPrairiePTO@gmail.com.
• Wednesday, February 28: PTO will be surprising students with a Magic Show! Jeff Evans presents reading magic! All students will be provided popcorn while they enjoy the show! Watch for more information to follow! Please help us keep the surprise!
• Thursday, February 29: No Popcorn today. PTO moved Popcorn Day to February 28 for students to enjoy during the Magic Show!
