Fire Prevention
Kindergarten had a fire prevention assembly on October 12th. They had an opportunity to see all the layers a firefighter wears to protect them during a fire. The firefighter also walked around so everyone could hear how the oxygen mask sounded as they were breathing. The children asked some great questions and learn so much!
Parent University
On Tuesday night October 10th, the parents of Kindergarten students at Tawanka Elementary School attended a special night just for them. Parent University was designed to help grownups gain an understanding of what will be taught in school this year. The adults followed a color-coded ârosterâ and visited classrooms to learn about Neshaminyâs amazing Math, English-Language Arts (ELA) and Technology Curriculums. All eight Kindergarten teachers at Tawanka shared a variety learning ideas, curriculum background information, and learning tips relevant to understanding what will be taught. Fun learning games and supplies were provided too. Parentâs left the âUniversityâ with arms full of materials for a successful year along with many answered questions!
Ms. Wells
Ms. Wells' class had a blast during pumpkin day on Friday! They did pumpkin themed activities and even got to investigate a real pumpkin! Mr. Wells from Schweitzer (1st Grade) Zoomed in with Ms. Wells' class and he read a pumpkin story!
Mrs. Mannherz
Ms. Kidd & Mrs. Mannherz's buddy classes met for the first time to get to know each other! They are excited to spend the year making friends and doing fun activities.
Celebrating the Fightin' Phils!
To celebrate the Phillies making the play-offs, second grade students at Tawanka showed off their Phillies Gear!
Mr. Barberides
Story Time
Third grade is gearing up for Fall! Students are practicing descriptive writing by either describing a haunted house for sale, describing a pumpkin, explaining their autumn plans or writing a spooky narrative story.
Fun with science outside
Fourth Grade has been learning about Watersheds in Bucks County. The grade level took some time checking out watersheds around the Tawanka campus. Students observed natural versus human made resources.

Free & Reduced Lunch
Beginning Monday, October 3rd, breakfast will be free of charge to all students at Neshaminy School district. Though the pandemic-era Federal program that made school meals free for all students has ended, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has appropriated funds to ensure that all students can enjoy a free breakfast at least through the end of the 2022-2023 school year.
The daily cost for lunch is $2.80 in elementary schools for this school year. Payments for school meals can be made with cash, check, or through our online payment service, School Cafe (www.schoolcafe.com).
Applications for the Free & Reduced Meal Program at Neshaminy should also be completed on the School Cafe website or on their mobile app (available for iOS and Android). Families must fill out a new application every school year to maintain eligibility.

Safety of all students and staff is a top priority at Tawanka, so we have strict safety procedures in place. A reminder of the following:
Early Dismissals: Please notify the teacher if your child will be picked up early. If being picked up by someone other than a parent/guardian, please specify who will be picking up your child. Students will only be released to individuals listed on the emergency card, but the office must be notified prior to pick-up. Students must be signed out in the main office. Again, driver's license or state issued ID is required to pick up a student. We strongly encourage early dismissals be no later than 3:00 pm.
