St. Mary’s County Public Schools’ parents are asked to complete the Federal Impact Aid Survey every school year. The school system receives federal grant funds to operate and maintain the schools for federally connected students. To receive these federal funds, the United States Department of Education (USDE) requires the school system to survey each student. The Federal Impact Aid Survey window will be open until Monday, November 14, 2022. It is important to complete the survey through the student’s Home Access Center Account.

Steps to complete the form:

• Sign in to the Home Access Center (HAC) and find the Impact Aid Form
• Once logged in, directions to access the online form can be found HERE.
• A video with instructions is available HERE.
• The form can now be accessed in Spanish by clicking on the Globe in the top right-hand corner once the form has been started.
• The deadline for the online submission of Impact Aid Program Survey forms is November 14, 2022.

Winter Sport tryouts begin on November 15,2022

Athletes should contact their coach if they have any questions. The email addresses for our Winter Coaches are located on the Athletics page of our website.

Athletes must be registered and approved on Family ID and have a 2.0 GPA for the first quarter.

Students that have Fall Parking Passes must return the parking pass to Ms. Mushrush in the School Bank no later than Thursday, November 10, 2022. Any Fall Parking Passes not returned will incur a $25 fee per day until it is turned in.

Applications from students who have applied for Winter Parking Passes will be reviewed on November 21, 2022 and students who will be notified on November 22, 2022 if they have been approved for a Winter Parking Pass.

Being approved for a Fall Parking Pass does not guarantee that a student will be approved for a Winter Parking Pass. We have a limited number of spaces and are trying to make the approval of parking as fair as possible.

See what's happening in our classrooms at Leonardtown High School!! Ms. Massie's Biology 2 class learned about the anatomy of the heart and got to dissect a sheep's heart. Ms. Grebos and the Sewing Club worked during one-lunch to work on the Red Scarf Project. Ms. Hidalgo's Spanish 4 students remembered the dearly departed and celebrated Dia de Los Muertos. Ms. Chen's Chinese students worked on leaf calligraphy. There is a lot of great work going on at LHS!!!

The LHS Math Club will be offering peer tutoring on Mondays during B Lunch in room E11. All students seeking tutoring should complete this Google form to sign up.

Senior Yearbook Items

Seniors, it is time to fill out the items for the senior section in the yearbook! You should fill out the senior awards & activities list, superlative form, and create your index card through your school Gmail accounts. The deadline to submit yearbook items is Monday, December 12. We are in need of pictures for some of our spreads! Click here for specifics regarding what pictures we still need. The list has been updated! Please upload pictures directly to our Yearbook website using ReplayIt. Please do not submit screenshots of pictures or pictures with filters. Please make sure all students featured in the pictures are identified with first and last name and grade level. Please make sure that the pictures are from this summer and this school year!

Grad Ads

Senior parents interested in creating a grad ad for the yearbook can do so through the Tribute Ads website. The deadline for creating an ad is December 15, 2022. Please visit the Tribute Ads site to create an ad honoring your senior.

2021-2022 Yearbooks

The 2022 yearbooks are here! Students may pick up their yearbooks during lunch in 2E08. If you are a 2022 graduate of LHS, you or someone you designate may pick up your book during regular hours (8:00-2:45) to retrieve your book. Please email Mrs. Page before you plan on picking up your book to ensure that it is in the office waiting for you.

If you need a letter of recommendation from your school counselor, please use this link, Student Recommendation Request, make a copy of this google document and then share it with your counselor once you have completed it. Please include a resume as well to your counselor. Counselors are not included in your teacher recommendations for common applications, our letters are considered “Counselor Evaluations.”

Want to use the gym during lunch? Daily completion of the form above is a requirement for entry. Submissions are accepted from 8 to 11 am. You have to use your SMCPS login to access the form. After your initial submission, save the link for quick and easy access. Only fifty students are permitted to sign up for a lunch block (either A or B). Students are expected to enter the gym through the side door adjacent to the girls locker room and be in the gym before the 10 minute bell. Students unlawfully tardy will be redirected to the cafeteria. Students are expected to remain in the gym, no food or drink is allowed and you must have tennis shoes to be on the gym surface.

Bus Passes:

Bus passes should only be requested when students have a change in physical address or when there is an emergency situation and a student needs to ride a different bus or get off at a different stop. Bus passes will not be granted for students simply wanting to go visit with a friend.

Need to obtain a bus pass?

Parents can write a note or send an email to Ms. Revis at btrevis@smcps.org in order to request a bus pass. All relevant information must be included in the written request.

Bus Information includes: Student name, address, parent phone number, existing bus stop to be used, bus #, date, medical concerns, destination address, destination phone # and reason for the pass

MySchoolBucks & the Media Center

New for 2022, families have the option to pay for lost or damaged resources in My School Bucks. A resource can include: library books, laptops, chargers, textbooks, consumables, etc.

When a media specialist marks anything as lost or damaged in Destiny, that fee AUTOMATICALLY shows up as a "real time fee" in My School Bucks.
