Hello!

We are contacting you today to keep you updated, and aware of the work being done to further the lives of North View Middle School students. This update contains information about our school goals for instruction and achievement, activities used to support our goals, and our progress toward meeting them. In this issue, you will be provided with information related to:

aReading and aMath Testing

North View Middle School students will take the aReading and aMath tests on the dates below. Please ensure your student brings their fully charged Chromebook, charger, and headphones on their testing date.

  • Math: 5/9 & 5/10
  • Reading: 5/11 & 5/12

8th Grade Field Trip

NVMS 8th graders will be participating in an end-of-the-year field on May 17th. All 8th-grade students are invited to go to Base Camp at Fort Snelling. Base Camp is a one-of-a-kind interactive experience in a unique urban setting. Located in Fort Snelling, Minnesota, Base Camp offers year-round opportunities for team building, rock climbing, rope courses, and archery. To ensure that your 8th grader can participate, please complete and return the permission slip/waiver that was sent home with your child. You can also find one online by clicking here. Students will not be allowed to attend without one.

In Case You Missed it!

We had another eventful month at North View Middle School. We held our end-of-the-year awards ceremony and our Hmong Club hosted a state sentator. We have included a few highlights below in case you missed them.

Hmong Club Field Trip

The Hmong Club student group went to the Hmong Village to learn more about the Hmong culture. Hmong Village Shopping Center features restaurants, farmers' markets, and merchandise stores.

Senator Susan Pha, who represents Senate District 38 and is an NVMS parent, was a guest speaker for the Hmong student group.

Multilingual Summer Programs

Registration is now open for the ML Summer Programs! Please share program and registration information with students and families.

  • Multilingual Summer Academy (MSA) is for students currently in grades 1-4 and is open to any multilingual student.
  • EL Summer Club is for students currently in grades 5-7. (Students currently receiving EL program services only.)
  • EL High School Summer Program is for students receiving EL services currently in grades 8-12 (preferably 12th graders who will return in the fall).

Reading Resource Site

If you are interested in supporting your child's reading growth consider accessing the Reading Resources site found here. This site was put together by the district's middle school Library Media Specialist and includes Digital Books & Audiobooks and family resources that encourage teen reading among other things.

Navigating Osseo Area Schools

The Navigating Osseo Area Schools workshop series will empower parents and caregivers as fierce advocates as they support their scholar's academic success. Participants will access tools and resources to navigate the school system, access relevant information for scholar success, and explore post-secondary opportunities. RISE Committee

The RISE Committee was formed as a direct result of the George Floyd Resolution to elevate BIPOC voices within Osseo Area Schools. The RISE Committee will also strategically partner with the School Board, District leaders, and various stakeholders in the district; to strengthen the interconnectedness among culture, teachers, learning, achievement, and transformation. Mental Health Series

The Mental Health Workshop series is designed to increase Parents' and caregivers' awareness and accessibility to mental health resources. Participants will explore the different components of mental health, engage in meaningful conversation and gather resources and tools for the entire family.   • Will students be required to wear face coverings at school?
    Osseo Area Schools will encourage but do not require quarantines and/or mask-wearing for all staff, students, and visitors.

  • Can I come in and visit my student's classroom?
    Yes. Following the appropriate protocol, visitors are allowed into our building.

  • Will breakfast and lunches continue to be free this year?
    No, school meals will not continue to be provided free of charge to all students this year. It is extremely important to fill out the free/reduced meal application if you would like to continue to receive discounted services, like school activities and home internet service (upon qualification).


  • Where do I find the school supply list?
    Please click here for this year's school supply list.


  • When does the school open?
    The school building will be open for students to enter each day at 7:50 am. Please do not drop off students before this time if possible.


  • Who should I contact with questions?
    If you have general questions, please call the school at 763-585-7200.

  • When is picture day?
    Picture day is November 9th and the retake day will be December 8th.

  • I need support with Internet Resources.
    Resources are available to support families that do not have access to the internet in their homes can be found here. Internet support and resources may also be provided to families as necessary by the district.

Reminders Important Forms

Immunization Forms: According to MN state law, all students must be in compliance with state immunization requirements, be in the process of receiving the immunization series or meet exemption criteria. Students who are not in compliance with state immunization requirements will be excluded from school.


Health Emergency Contact Form: Students under 18 years of age will not be released from school if ill or injured unless authorized by a legal parent/guardian or another adult designated by a parent/guardian. Please update emergency information annually and as changes occur. Emergency Contact information can be changed in ParentVue.

At the beginning of each month, North View Middle School will send you the "News from the View" Family Newsletter. These newsletters are organized in a fashion that the most critical information is at the top and as you scroll down the newsletter the information becomes more oriented toward the future. Parent-Teacher Conferences

Another way to receive personalized information and be engaged in conversations related to the North View Middle School community is to attend parent-teacher conferences each trimester. Not only will you be able to meet your child's teacher, but there will also be opportunities to provide us with feedback about your needs. North View Middle School is a dynamic community; if you want to be involved and don’t know how, please ask. We can connect you to a cause, action, or person that will help you be connected to our community.

The NVMS website is a place to go to pull static information and facts about North View Middle School that could be important for a family at any point of the year. This may include but is not limited to, the daily schedule, the school calendar, how to check your student's grades using Parent Vue, and stay informed of your student's distance learning progress using Schoology.
