â Important Notice â
Here at the High School we have noticed an uptick in students using AI to produce what is intended to be their own, authentic work. As a school it is our stance that, unless otherwise indicated by the teacher for a specific assignment, students should not be utilizing AI at any point during their writing process, and especially not submitting it as their own, final product. In addition, we do not recognize any AI software or apps as citable sources. As educators we are continuing to learn and grow with the changing times and will continue to adapt in order to provide our students with the best education possible, and at this time we continue to believe that it is of the utmost importance to teach and expect students to think, analyze, and communicate using their own abilities before they start to rely on other platforms to do it for them.
Masco Happenings
Clubs & Spanish Exchange
On Tuesday, the Spanish exchange students, the ACE Club (Appreciating Cultures and Ethnicities), the Portuguese Club, and GAC (Global Arts Club) gathered in the library to discuss what they appreciate about their cultures and heritage. A lively discussion ensued about the diverse food, holidays, celebrations, languages, sports, and traditions that Masco students and Spanish students enjoy. They then filled out "gratitude leaves" (seen in the back) in the spirit of American Thanksgiving!
Zen Center Visitor
Joan Amaral of the North Shore Zen Center visited Masconomet World Religions students on Monday. She led the students through a series of meditations including a walking mediation and a silent lunch. In their reflections students said that the experience âhelped them calm down, slow down and get in touch with their emotionsâ. Others appreciated the opportunity to âslow down, reflect and be in the momentâ. Thank you, Ryan Quinn for bringing this experience to our students!
National Art Honor Society
National Art Honor Society worked with the Spanish Exchange Students on a autumn leaf printing project. 73 Festive fall cards were made to give to the residents at the Masconomet Health Care Facility for Thanksgiving.
Peer Leading
On November 14th Peer Leaders and freshmen had their monthly meeting with this month's focus being gratitude. Groups discussed what gratitude is and the importance of sharing gratitude with others. To culminate, each student wrote down what they are grateful for on individual links to make one large gratitude chain. This chain currently hangs in the main foyer as a reminder of the support we have received as we head into the Thanksgiving holiday.
Unified Sports - Kickball
On November 2, 2023, students from Masco's LRC took part in a unified kickball game with Danvers Public School students. All who took part had a fun time sharing in a kickball game with their peers from Danvers and Masconomet (DECA). They look forward to taking part in additional events like this.
