• Congrats to Kelsie Gehrels & Ian Sheaffer! They were selected for All-State Jazz Band. This year's ASJ will take place in Rapid City May 4-6. The concert will be held May 6th at Rapid City Central High School. Tickets are available via SDHSAA.

• All-State Band was held on March 25th. RHS had four students selected to be a part of this prestigious. Alex Wohlwend (sr) - clarient, Alayna Kreger (jr) - french horn, Linus Ng (sr) - euphonium, Kelsie Gehrels (sr) - trumpet.

• Jazz band will have one final competition on April 13th at SDSU. The Optimist Jazz Festval will take place during the day. The full schedule will be sent via email. Jazz II will perform at 2:30 pm and Jazz I will perform at 1:30 pm.

• Winter color guard raised $700 in their silent auction fundraiser. Thank you to all who participated, donated and bid. It was a great success. If you are in need to pick up and/or pay for your items, please see Mrs. Decker.

• Symphonic band and Concert band will be traveling to Brandon Valley HS on April 19th for Large Group Contest. This is a great event in which students perform for a panel of judges to receive a rating. Concert band will perform at 1:00 pm, Symphonic Band will perform at 1:40 pm. Please check your emails for full schedules.

• The next BPA meeting will be April 3rd from 6-8 pm in the band room. Please check your email for any updates regarding this meeting.

RHS will host a fundraiser for the band during the lunch hours on April 12th. We are asking that all families provide items for this fundraiser. You can either bring a pan of brownies (homeade or store-brought), bowls, spoons or toppings. Each brownie sundae will sell for $1 ($2 to add toppings) and will directly go into our account at school. We are looking for as much participation as possible. Please plan to bring the items to the band room on or before April 12th by 8:15 am.

Next year's marching band show will be called Encounters. It will be based on the different types of "kinds" with the other-wordly creatures. Be on the lookout for upcoming prop meeting dates and other information on ways you can be a part of this show! It's going to be out of this world!!

We will have a slide show featuring the RHS BAND SENIORS at the Spring Band Concert on Thursday, May 18th.

Thrivent Choice lets eligible Thrivent members recommend where they feel Thrivent should distribute some of its annual outreach funding by choosing from thousands of enrolled churches and nonprofit organizations nationwide, including the Sioux Falls Roosevelt High School Band Parent Association.

ALL band parents are HIGHLY encouraged to attend the monthly Band Parents Association meetings! The RHS BPA provides the fundraising dollars and volunteer support that are ESSENTIAL to helping our childresn have sucessful band experiences. BPA meetings are held monthly and are open to ALL BAND families. Show your support for your student and the entire band program at RHS! We have MANY leadership roles to fill for next year.

The Band Parent Association is looking for to fill the following positions (and more!) for spring semester of 2023 and the next school year 2023-2024. Can you help? Contact the directors.

We are in desperate need of a secretary and fundraising chairs: work shifts and individual chairs. Please consider being involved in the BPA.
