Winter Weather Check
It is that time of year, inclement weather is upon us! If the weather causes cancellations or postponements of 4-H events, listen to one of the following local radio stations: KDUZ - Hutchinson 320-587-2140 and KNUJ - New Ulm 507-359-2921. Also look for emails and check our Facebook Page. If any of the county schools are canceled or have an early out due to weather, the evening county-wide 4-H events are canceled.
Project Meetings
Project meetings are a great way for 4-H members to learn more about their projects. Project meetings can happen in the club or on the county level. If you have ideas for project meetings that you would like to see, or if you or someone you know is interested in teaching a project meeting, please let Connie know. The fall and winter months are a great time to hold project meetings and now is the time to get those meetings scheduled.
Next Federation Meeting
The next Federation Meeting is scheduled for Monday, January 22, 2024 starting at 7:00 p.m. in the Sibley County Service Center. Please plan on having EVERY club represented. The Federation delegates are the link between the clubs and the Federation. If you can’t make it, please try and find a replacement. Clubs will receive a pizza party from the federation if they are present at all 5 federation meetings November - September.
BLU and TEEL
One of Sibley County 4-H Federation goals is to strongly encourage youth to take advantage of all the great opportunities that are also available outside of Sibley County. Below is a list of a couple great opportunities that are coming up in the next couple of months. We would highly recommend these leadership opportunities. Remember, if this is your first time going, Sibley County 4-H Federation will pay for 90% of your costs and if second and beyond they cover 75%.
Save the dates for the Building Leadership and Understanding (BLU) and Teens Engaged in Emerging Leadership (TEEL) regional workshops this February! This year’s theme is “3, 2, 1, Blast off into Leadership!”
BLU is for youth in grades 6-9. They will participate in hands-on activities where they build leadership skills, form relationships with other youth, learn to work together and make a difference in their communities. BLU is facilitated by youth leaders from the Minnesota 4-H State Ambassador program and supported by a team of adult chaperones.
TEEL is a workshop for youth in grades 10+ to gain valuable leadership skills while connecting with peers from other counties and regions. This workshop builds on the leadership skills older youth have developed at BLU and through their lived experience both within and outside of 4-H. Teens will engage in large and small group discussions. It is designed and facilitated by a team of older youth and young adult leaders.

Feb. 10-11-BLU & TEEL at Camp Omega, Waterville
