Carver's Weekly Update
Week of Monday, April 3, 2023
April is Autism Acceptance Month! See beyond the spectrum!
Let's remember to embrace neurodiversity in our school and in our community!
Carver Parents/Guardians,
Muffins for Moms or Someone Meaningful will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week from 7:10 AM to 8:00 AM. Students with the last names beginning with A-L will be invited on Tuesday. Students with the last names beginning with M-Z will be invited to attend on Wednesday.
Our school will be closed from Friday, April 7 until Friday, April 14. Students and staff will return to school on Monday, April 17.
I want to remind parents about our dress code relating to shorts, shirts, and tank tops. These guidelines were copied from our district's Code of Conduct booklet.
- Tank tops are not allowed. All shirt straps must be at least the width of two fingers.
- Shirts, tops, blouses, etc. must cover the midsection and not show cleavage.
- Shorts, skirts, etc., must be long enough so that when hands are extended by the side, the student does not touch skin. Garments should be of adequate length to assure modesty when the student is seated or engaged in school activities.
As families begin to plan vacations, please keep in mind that our students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will be taking SC Ready and/or SC PASS in May. The dates are below. Please make every effort to ensure that students are at school on these testing days.
Tuesday, May 9 - ELA
Wednesday, May 10 - TDA Writing
Tuesday, May 16 - Math
Thursday, May 18 - Science (4th grade only)
Thank you!

A Snapshot of STEAM Learning at Carver!
The students in Mrs. Ward's kindergarten class measured clowns, created sight words, built numbers to 19, found all things that represented numbers 1-10, created a directed drawing, learned to juggle, balanced plates and had a bean bag station!! Awesome!!
Mrs. Marsik's third grade students were studying nets of 3D shapes, and students had to use their skills to find the "imposters". Each student had a net, and they walked around inspecting the others' nets to determine who the imposters were. After the activity, they looked at each net to prove or disprove whether it would make a 3D shape or was an imposter!
Staff Shout-out!
