Parent Dare
We are going to give you a Parent Dare 2 times a month - something fun to do with your kids to help you stay connected and keep the conversation going.
Give it a try! These ideas are from our school wide "Character Strong" program that your student experiences 3 days a week with their classmates.
Have everyone in the family choose an item (or think of an item from the past) that is an important and/or special possession. Then have a night of show-and-tell where you share the story of that item and why it’s important to you. You just might be amazed at what everyone chooses and the story that goes with it!
6th Grade Updates
News From 6th grade ELA
All of the 6th grade ELA classes began reading our first novel this week entitled “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh” by Robert C. O’Brien. From my past experience with class novels, it is extremely important that students stay caught up with the reading and accompanying work which consists of comprehension questions, vocabulary, a Reaction Journal, recordings of me reading chapters out loud, as well as various short writing assignments. Students have received their own copy of the novel that can be taken home if needed. Time is given in class to complete daily work, but needs to be brought home if not finished by the end of the class period. All classes have access to the things mentioned above through my Google Classroom. For students without internet access, they simply need to keep my Google Classroom tab open when they leave school, and no internet is needed to complete the daily work at home. This is a novel that I think the students will enjoy. Please feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Pat Weick
