Thank you to everyone who was able to attend Back to School Night (BTSN). For those who were unable to attend, here is a copy of the BTSN presentation. Due to limited time, I was unable to complete the presentation. However, I look forward to seeing you at other parent events such as Coffee with the Principal meetings and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meetings where I will discuss important topics pertaining to our school. This week there is a Sports meeting for all students who are interested in playing a fall sport need to attend this meeting. The meeting is in the Bobcat Den on Monday, August 28th from 3:00-3:30. Students who intend on trying out for a fall sport need to submit their athletic clearance to the front office as soon as possible. All students interested in playing a Fall sport should sign up for the sport(s) of their choice on the BJH Google Classroom.

Thank you to all parents who submitted an interest in School Site Council either via the Google Form or email. A ballot has been created. School Site Council is typically a two-year term. There are five parent member openings this school year. Please use this ballot to vote for the top 5 parents who you would like to represent you on the BJH School Site Council. The ballot link was tested and should be active for any parent inside and outside of the Brea Olinda Unified School District. Click this link to vote SSC PARENT BALLOT.

SPIRIT DAY

• This Friday is the first spirit day of the school year. Students are encouraged to wear school colors. Let's all show our school spirit and Bobcat PRIDE!

SUBSTITUTE COUNSELOR

• Mrs. Jansen, 8th grade counselor, will return in October to BJH. We are fortunate to have Ms. Sara Hwang serve as our 8th grade counselor until Mrs. Jansen's return. Sara has spent her first few days at BJH connecting with students. We look forward to her continued support. Many of you met her at Back to School Night. Welcome Ms. Hwang!

LATE START

• Every Wednesday is Late Start. School starts at 8:30 on Wednesdays.

BJH FALL SPORTS

• If your student is interested in playing a sport this year you must submit the appropriate paperwork. Students who wish to play fall sports must have the athletics packet filled out and physician physical paperwork completed and submitted to the front office no later than Friday. August 25, 2023 in order to be eligible to try out for Fall Sports. Visit our website to access athletic clearance paperwork https://bjhs.bousd.us/

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA)

• The Brea Junior High School PTA is having open enrollment for PTA. Please support BJH by joining the PTA. Click HERE to join. Homeroom classes with the highest percentage of membership by October 6th will receive a donut party.

• The first PTA meeting will take place on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in room E-30. Your voice matters!
