The Olive Branch 4.23.21

Dear OMS families,

It has been a busy couple of weeks at the nest. Our students wrapped up the NWEA MAP assessment, our 5th graders completed the ISA assessment, and next week our intermediate students will be taking the IAR state assessment. We are so incredibly proud of the effort and dedication our students have put into taking these assessments.

While we still have much learning to do, we are starting to plan a few fun end-of-the-year activities. Unfortunately, we will not be having an all-school field day; however, our students will participate in field day activities in their PE classes. We will also be sharing information soon on our all-school ABC end-of-year spirit day countdown.

We hope you have a wonderful weekend and don't forget to send your in-person students to school on Monday as we begin a full 5-day in-person week!

Should you ever have questions or concerns and wish to speak to your child's teacher or administration using your native language, please let us know. We have the ability to use a phone interpreting service that offers over 200 languages. We want all of our families to feel connected and supported.

As we begin planning for our 21-22 school year, we are hopeful to return to having PTA programming and volunteers but we need YOUR help!

There are quite a few important committees that are currently without a chair for the 2021/2022 school year! These committees will not be able to function without the generous volunteer hours from parents like you! Most of these committees simply follow the procedure guides from previous years and all that needs to be done is spelled out for you.

We are here to help you and help make these committees continue on for the benefit of our students. Take a look at the list below, and if something catches your eye, check out the Procedure Guide at the bottom of the post to get a detailed description of the committee and position. Each committee requires at least two co-chairs to lead the committee. The number still needed for 21/22 school year are in () after. So grab a friend, and if you are interested in a specific committee or have ANY questions, please email olivepta@gmail.com and let us know!
