UNITED IN OUR LOVE & RESPECT
Viking Families,
Hello! I hope this finds you all doing well and enjoying a small drop in the temperature!
Around 11:05 each day, we have the morning announcements. We say the pledge, have a moment of silence, and then hear about the happenings around our campus. We always end with a joke and a fun sound effect. The students that do the announcements make my day! They are kind, funny, and truly care about our school. When we do the moment of silence, we are all encouraged to think of three things we are grateful for during that time. I usually point to all three students, because I am truly grateful for them.
The times that I’m not in the office for the announcements, I usually find myself in the Commons. Without fail, when we are asked to rise for the pledge, every single student in the Commons stops and faces the flag. I’ve not always been in schools where this is the culture. I haven’t always seen that kind of respect. These are fourteen to eighteen year old kids! They have a thousand thoughts running through their minds, but when it’s time to say the pledge and regard a moment of silence, they are focused and respectful. Love for our great country, honor, and respect are beautiful things! When I see this, and I’m asked to think of what I’m grateful for, I give thanks for the students in the Commons showing love, honor, and respect for our great nation!
As we move forward next week after our election, I want us to remember the importance of unity and collaboration within our school community. Elections can evoke a wide range of emotions and opinions, and it’s essential that we approach this time with an open heart and mind. At the end of the day, we will all still call this great nation home, and we will all still be proud Americans, and on a local level, WE will ALL still ROW.
Our students have a four day weekend! We will see them next Wednesday. In the meantime, think of three things you are grateful for and give thanks!

WE ARE PROUD OF YOU!
The Lady Vikes completed their PERFECT run through district to capture the title on Tuesday night versus Manor New Tech. The night was extra special as we also celebrated our four amazing Seniors for their incredible contribution to the LVHS Volleyball program over the years. We are so thankful for their hard work, commitment, and dedication that helped lead our team to victory!
The Lady Vikes will take on Geronimo Navarro on Monday at 6:30pm at Lehman High School (1700 Lehman Road, Kyle TX). Everyone come out and support our Lady Vikings!

VIKINGS ARE SMART!
UIL Academics offers students the chance to excel in so many different academic areas. There is a contest for almost every kid! Whether it's Poetry & Prose, Number Sense, Biology, Debate, Computer Science, Journalism, or Literary Criticism, there's something for everyone! If you have a student who excels in an academic content area but doesn't seem plugged in, please refer them to Mrs. Becky Holt (rholt@lagovistaisd.net) for more information on how to get involved in UIL Academics!

The Science UIL team competed in Lampasas on Saturday. They placed 1st as a team! They also finished 1st (Westin Walker), 2nd (Keegan Downs), 4th (Ripley Sinclaire), and 5th (Qinyu Zhan) individually! Westin Walker also placed 1st in the Physics portion!
