MCES WEEKLY TOP FIVE FOR PARENTS
UPDATES FOR THE WEEK OF NOVEMBER 1
A MESSAGE FROM THE ADMIN TEAM
Good afternoon Montclair Parents/Guardians,
As we embark on our Second Nine Weeks of School, we would like to inform our parents of an upcoming event and school reminder. Please read through this information and feel free to contact a staff member from Montclair.
Car Rider Line: During parent pick-up, please make sure that you have your assigned car rider number visible for our staff members who work on the line. We are asking that you all have it on the dashboard of your car. Having your card on the dash will allow us to call numbers faster and make the card rider line go by more quickly.
AM Drop-Off: We realize that Montclair being a late start school can inconvenience our parents; however, parents cannot drop their child off unsupervised before 8:00 AM. As a reminder, our building does not open until 8:00 AM, and our staff members are not responsible for monitoring students outside the building. This is the responsibility of the parent. Additionally, parents that do not have students in students in Pre-K or EC are not allowed to park in the parking lot to get out to drop their students off.
Federal Cards: Federal Cards went home on October 19. We are still taking all Federal Cards. Please make sure that your students have turned them into the front off. or CCs to receive impact Aid basic support funding; the Federal government requires CCS to collect information from parents and guardians after the school year. Parents are expected to fill out this survey and return them to the school. The impact Aid CCS receives is determined by a formula that includes the number of students with a parent or guardian on active duty in the military. This also applies to families that live in Federal low-income housing or on federally owned property; or live with a parent or guardian who works on Federal property.
Parent-Teacher Conference: From November 1-5, Montclair will have Parent-Teacher Conferences. These conferences will be virtual or over the phone. During this time, parents will have the opportunity to voice concerns and work with the teacher on how to capitalize on their child's strengths and game plan how to approach their weaknesses. We ask that our parents and teachers go into the meetings with the student's success as the primary focus. This week is not meant for a personal attack opportunity.
Student Holiday/ Teacher Optional Workday: On November 2. During this day, students can work on their assignments from Canvas. As this is an optional work-day, please be mindful that all teachers may be unavailable to reach; however, please feel free to contact the teachers and allow for 24-48 hours for them to respond.
Thank you so much for your time as we look forward to a year and rebuilding, refocusing, and reassuring all stakeholders on being Montclair Strong. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns for administrators, please feel free to email us, use Classdojo or contact us in our Facebook group.
