Principal's Message
Dear Springwater community,
Summer vacation is right around the corner! We have less than 3 weeks of the school year remaining before we say 'goodbye' to the 18-19 school year. Please continue to support your student and reach out to the school if you have questions or concerns about current grades in Synergy.
Our Spring Community Care Day was last Friday, May 24th. We spent the morning volunteering at Dabney State Recreation Area followed by a barbecue with games and activities in the afternoon. Unfortunately, due to the weather, we ended up returning to STHS for the barbecue and afternoon activities. However, it was a great way to bring closure to the school year while helping out a wonderful natural resource in our area. Visit our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter for more information about this event and all the other great activities that occur each week at STHS.
Similar to last year, Barlow's summer school will be held at Springwater Trail High School this year. Their campus is still undergoing renovation thanks to the passage of the recent school bond. If your student needs to catch up on credits, this is a great time to do summer school because Springwater students will be able to take their courses at Springwater! Call the office or reach out to Linda Centurion for more information.
I am thankful to each and every student, parent, and staff member who made this another successful school year! Enjoy the summer and I look forward to another great school year when we return in September!
-Ryan

Spanish National Honor Society New Members
The Springwater Trail High School chapter of the Spanish national honor society,
Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica, inducted 4 new members at the ceremony on Wednesday,
May 29. To be eligible for induction a student needs to have completed the second year
of high school Spanish, and have earned an A for 3 out of 4 semesters of study. The students
who were honored this year were Bruce Baird, Anthony Brown, Emmalee Temple, and Ryan Hodge.
The chapter was begun in Springwater Trail High School in 2017, and this was the second year that students earned the honor. The ceremony included an explanation of the society's history and the qualifications for membership. Each new member added a flower to form a bouquet symbolizing the combining of their many talents to create something beautiful together. The ceremony ended with the Pledge of Allegiance in Spanish.
Each new inductee received a certificate from the national organization, the American
Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese. Becoming a member of SHH entitles the students to apply for scholarship, travel, and other special opportunities. The STHS chapter founder and director is Judith Jeffries.

Checking In With Our Graduates
Brandon Snow
What are your plans for this year: My plans for the year are mainly just getting into PSU. I'm trying to live in a dorm on campus, have a job in Portland, and basically be living in Portland while I'm going to college. I'm really excited for it
What do you miss about STHS: Some things I definitely miss about Springwater would be, first of all, the staff. Since it's such a small school not only do you get better opportunities, but you also really get to know your teachers and everyone else around the school. The events we did are also a really cool thing with Springwater, with how often we did field trips and cool things around the community Springwater becomes just a really cool experience to remember later in life.
Advice you would give current STHS students: For advice on Springwater, I'd say to use all the resources you're given, as long as you don't overwhelm yourself. I did CAL and Middle college my senior year, and that was probably a little too much for me at the time. Some people would be able to do that no problem though, and if you can it's a great way to get credits early and for free. Another thing I would say, and this is more advice for after Springwater. Honestly, taking a gap year is a good idea if you aren't completely sure of what you want to do yet. I started Mt. Hood right after I graduated, and the classes were very underwhelming for the point I was at which for me got me uninterested in the classes entirely.

What are your plans for this year: I plan to travel. Im currently working part time as a temp.
What do you miss about STHS: How everyone was so nice and everyone knew everyone.
Advice you would give current STHS students: Don't put to much focus into the numbers. Make sure you are developing skills instead.
Bree Boertien
What are your plans for this year: I will be gong back to school in September. Im currently working at retirement home who is going to pay for my schooling to get my CNA.
What do you miss about STHS: Seeing my friends more often.
Advice you would give current STHS students: Always pass your classes don't wait tell your senior year because then they will add up. Take advantage of extra activities.
