Principal's Message
Hello Wilson families,
With Halloween and daylight savings behind us, we are in a grove. We had Veterans' Day assemblies for each grade level this week. We had veterans who are currently serving or retired speak to the students about what Veteran's Day is, the difference between Veteran's Day and Memorial Day, and their experience in serving for our country. The tudents did a great job at the assemblies and we thank our presenters, 3 of whom are Wilson parents:
SSG Kyle Reitnauer
COL Dave Waldron
COL Michael Cohen
LTC Andrew Ballow
We appreciate their time and most importantly, we thank them for their service to our country. A special shout out to Ms. Waldron, who organized the assemblies and Ms. Pogarian, one of our 8th grade science teacher who is also a veteran.
Below are some important things to review and read.
Wilson Winter Athletics & Registration:
We have the following sports available at Wilson this winter: Boys Basketball, Boys Intramural Basketball, Girls Basketball, Girls Intramural Basketball. and Boys & Girls Wrestling. The registration deadline for all of these sports is on Wednesday (11/22). Please visit the Wilson Athletic Website for instructions on registration, team info meetings, team websites, and contact info. Feel free to reach out to Mr Shute if you have any questions.
Lost and Found update:
If you are missing clothing at home, please have your child take a look at the lost and found table that is currently in the front lobby. The table is overflowing with left behind items found in various places in the building. Remaining items will be donated the week of Thanksgiving.
Healthy Harvest 2023
We are gearing up to start this year’s Healthy Harvest events! Healthy Harvest is our annual food drive that benefits the Natick Service Council Food Pantry. Food insecurity is a growing problem in our communities as families struggle to make ends meet. Our donation is the largest one received by the food pantry and each year we aim to donate over 7,000 items. Beginning Thursday October 26th, through Tuesday, November 21st, students are encouraged to bring in healthy non-perishable food items and toiletry items like toothpaste and shampoo.
As part of Healthy Harvest this year we will also be holding Spirit Days through November 21st. These special days will pair a specific Natick Service Council needed item, and a themed day at school. The dates of the Spirit Days and most needed items listed below.
The goal of Healthy Harvest is for us to come together as a Wilson community to support our larger Natick community during the holiday season. Thank you for your effort in this important event!
Newsletter updates and where to find helpful information on our website:
Our biweekly school newsletter is sent out every other week and will be linked in the district Engage communication. You can also access the newsletter on the school website in the NEWS section.
Extra-Curricular Activities and Late buses:
The listing of extracurricular activities & late bus stops are here. We encourage all students to get involved in something after school. Please reach out with any questions.
Volunteers Needed for Laps and Composting:
We want to get started with getting the students outside for laps during lunch next week. Therefore, we need your help! Parents volunteers are needed for both laps and composting. We are composting every day in the cafeteria. Both links are below to sign up if interested. You must have a completed CORI on file to volunteer. You can reach out to our administrative assistants in the office, Trish Williams or Jeanne Holihan if you need help with a CORI.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend. Reminder, we do not have school on Friday.
Respectfully,
Teresa Carney

Paper - On-Demand Tutoring
Natick Public Schools is excited to announce our partnership with Paper for on-demand tutoring for NHS students. Paper is a secure, online tutoring service that provides students with unlimited, 24/7 academic support. Whether they’re stuck on homework, studying for a test, or need someone to read and make suggestions to their essays, there will always be experts available online to assist students in over 200 subjects and more than 4 languages.
Paper tutors have been specially trained to conduct expert, academic support in a secure, chat-based platform. With a commitment to helping students learn, they’ll never give students answers, but rather interact with them in an encouraging tone to lead them forward.
This is a free service that we’re providing, so students are encouraged to use it as much as they need, whenever they need. Our teachers also have accounts and will be able to review all student activity to see what they’re working on and provide more targeted instruction as needed.
If you’d like to learn more about Paper you can sign up for a Paper hosted Parent Info Session, available in both English and Spanish.
To see Paper and the help it offers firsthand, we encourage you to login with your students. To get started, simply visit PAPER’s student login page, type your school’s name, and log in via Google using your school credentials
We’re thrilled to offer our students the unlimited, 24/7 support that Paper provides and we can’t wait to see what we’re able to accomplish together.
