From The Pastor's Desk
“As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, continue to live your lives[a] in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.” (Colossians 2:6-8)
Today I'm writing to you from my desk at Bristol. If it was yesterday I would have been writing from my desk at St. Pauls. As I travel between both churches I have found a home at both. For this, I am abounding in thanksgiving to you all.
It is appropriate that we talk about Thanksgiving. It is November. Thanksgiving day is right around the corner. Family and friends will gather to give thanks. Turkeys and ham, dinner rolls with butter melting, all the family traditional fixings on the table. Can’t you just smell the aroma now? Yum.
Sure there may be tensions. Sure, not everything will go as planned, my family tradition is burnt dinner rolls. Every time I smell burnt toast I think of Thanksgiving. lol
But remember at the heart of Thanksgiving is humility. We know we are not perfect, and we know those around us are not perfect, in this we can reflect Christ's forgiving heart and celebrate with those we love, while we give thanks for all that God has given us as we reach out to those less fortunate with a thankful heart and help as we see a need.
In the Spirit of Thanksgiving, at 6:30 p.m. on the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving day (Thanksgiving Eve), we will have a Thanksgiving Worship Service at Bristol Lutheran for both churches.
I encourage and invite you all to join your church family giving thanks to God, giving thanks for the joining of our two churches, and giving thanks and celebrating Pastor Bob's leadership to both our Churches.
The peace of Christ be with all of you.
Pastor Tim

(You could bring them on Dec. 10th, when we have the combined service, for convenience.) Please label any cookies with what they are and if they have nuts. Come the day of the sale and get a wide variety of sweets for your Christmas festivities. Tell friends and family. The proceeds from this go to the Food Pantry and the Youth Mission Trip.
