January 2020 e-Newsletter
Happy 2020, Rainiers!
Greetings Columbia Crest Families,
I hope you had a rejuvenating break sharing special time with family and friends. Now it is time to settle into the routine of school and work hard.
Happy New Year! Just hearing those words creates many images for us. The first semester is close to over and there are resolutions to make. Reading more should be at the top of the list, applying our math skills to our daily life and thinking creatively as we write are right behind. And then there is learning more science and social studies while being kind, running fast and getting in shape. So much to do! Welcome 2020, we have a plan.
We're excited to introduce Apex Leadership Co. Apex is a student leadership training company that incorporates fitness and fundraising. We will be kicking off our Apex program on January 6th and it will run for 2 weeks. The students will participate in daily leadership lessons and a final fun event which is our Apex Remix! This is a glow in the dark fitness move event! Apex will transform our gym into a glowing venue with awesome music and lots of energy! More to come on January 6th.
With the New Year comes new staff announcements. We welcome Greg Burd to our staff. Mr. Burd is our new P.E. teacher. In addition, we are excited to announce, Mrs. Sotl, our counselor is now here full time, serving our building five days a week.
Winter sports - check out the Eatonville Middle School winter sports schedule on their website. Columbia Crest is well represented on both the basketball and wrestling teams.
When it is blustery cold or snowy please send gloves or mittens with your child. It may be a good idea to send your child to school with a tube of ChapStick. I’ve seen lots of chapped lips lately that turn bloody because they are so dry.
January is School Board Appreciation Month. The members of our School Board are outstanding supporters of our school and advocate for all students in the Eatonville School District. We appreciate the countless hours they volunteer on behalf of the community. Students and staff send their gratitude.

- Keep our “Lost and Found” empty by writing your child’s name on all belongings. Items are donated after our monthly assembly.
- Students need to be on campus no later than 7:40 a.m. as class begins by 7:45 a.m.

- Please email our secretary, Lindsay Fitzer at L.Fitzer@eatonville.wednet.edu if your child is absent or tardy. Also, email or call her to change your child’s transportation. Changes to transportation MUST be made by 1:00.
