Upcoming College and Career Readiness Initiatives December 4-8
Detailed schedule of events and activities linked HERE.
Environmental and International Update:
A grant has been submitted for a native pollinator garden in the courtyard where the mulch bed is currently. We hope to hear some good news in February with the results!
Grants are currently being written for the remaining courtyard area to act as an outdoor learning space, natural play area, and community garden. We are excited about these developments!
We are expecting a replacement of the greenhouse in early 2024 and the refurbishment of our existing fenced garden beds
Ms. Steele is continuing to develop new resources for our nature trail and hope to share these with you in the new year!
Ms. Steele is also working on writing an extensive Environmental Curriculum Essential for K-8 for teaching next academic year and exploring the idea of Capstone Projects for high schoolers.
High School Exams
Upcoming exams have been scheduled. Specific details about your individual scholar's exam schedule will be sent from their classroom teachers.
Thanks,
Dr. Griffith

Epilepsy Awareness
November is Epilepsy Awareness Month! In honor of both staff and students on campus who have been diagnosed with Epilepsy, I would like to increase awareness about this disease and how it can impact individuals we know and care about. " By educating the public, we can promote understanding and encourage support for individuals living with epilepsy. Knowledge empowers communities to provide better care, offer assistance during seizures, and create a more inclusive and compassionate environment (Eplilepsy Foundation, 2023)." Please feel free to share these resources with students as well.

Lost and Found
Parents, please encourage your scholars to check the Lost and Found by the front office for lost items. Please also check their items upon their return home to ensure that the items that they bring home are in fact theirs. Oftentimes, parents will label their scholar's clothing and personal items with their names. This makes it easily identifiable. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this matter!

PTSO Pizza Friday!
Our PTSO is collecting money every Wednesday morning between 7:30-9:00 am for Pizza Delivery on Fridays! No payments will be accepted after Wednesday at 9:00. Thank you!
Excused Absences and Attendance
Here at CIS every day counts and attendance matters. Our Attendance Team will be closely monitoring and tracking attendance. All NC approved absences must reported and documents uploaded through this system.
Please direct parents to use this form to enter in excuses for absences.
If students come to your classroom with a tardy note, they have already been marked tardy. If they come to you tardy without a tardy note, you will either have to change their attendance record to reflect the tardy or send them back down to the front desk to be marked tardy and get a tardy note.
Thank you!
