Lost and Found Reminder
Reminder to families. We will clean out our lost and found on Dec. 8 and Dec. 20.
Also, remind your students to check for lost items after lunch.
Finally, we do our best to return those items with first and last names.

Personal Safety Counseling Lessons
In accordance with Georgia state law, school counselors Mrs. Weaver and Mr. Alan will soon begin teaching personal safety lessons to 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, and 5th Grade between 1/8/24-1/22/24. These lessons are designed to help prevent sexual abuse through the development of awareness and prevention strategies. CSD utilizes the Think First & Stay Safe™ program to deliver these lessons. You can learn more about the program at www.childluresprevention.com. A preview of the program will also be offered to interested guardians at the following times: 12/18 at 12:00 PM or 5:00 PM. If you would like to attend a curriculum preview please fill out this interest form. If you are interested in a preview but cannot attend either scheduled session, please email Alan Pendrick at jpendrick@csdecatur.net. If you would not like your student to participate in our personal safety lessons, you must send written notice via email to your student's counselor: Kimberly Weaver at kiweaver@csdecatur.net or Alan Pendrick at jpendrick@csdecatur.net.
School-Wide Service Project
Talley is putting together dignity boxes for people in need. Each house is encouraged to bring in the following items by December 13:
- Altruismo: Shampoo, conditioner
- Amistad: Body wash, soap
- Isibindi: Toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouthwash
- Nukumori: Hand sanitizer, cleansing wipes
- Onraka: Lotion, deodorant
- Reveur: Socks, gallon ziplock bags
The house with the most items donated will win 50 house points! For more information, see this presentation.
Talley Orchestra's Winter Performance
Please join us for the Talley Street Orchestra's Winter Performance on Tuesday, December 19 at 6 PM in the gym!
Spanish Project
Talley students have the opportunity to create a project for their summative Spanish assessment for the semester. The instructions/suggestions are posted in google classroom. If students would like to create a video or visual presentation, they would complete it outside of class between now and the end of the year and turn it in on google classroom, or in person. This is not a requirement. If students are unable create a project outside of class, they will work on an assessment activity during their last Spanish class time. Girls on the Run - Participant Registration
Girls on the Run is so much more than running. Our tested curriculum blends physical activity with skill development that enables girls to adapt to whatever comes their way. Girls on the Run understands the important connection between physical activity and overall emotional health. Trained volunteer coaches guide girls through research-based lessons which creatively integrate movement in a fun and motivating way. By signing your girl up for Girls on the Run, you are giving her the opportunity to connect, grow and learn how to navigate difficult situations.
The spring season registration lottery is open through Tuesday, January 9:
Our meeting team’s days and times are: Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday from 2:30-4:00 beginning the week of February 5. The program is for girls in 3rd through 5th grade.
The Girls on the Run program fee starts at $0 and is on a sliding scale based on household income so that every child who wants to participate can.

City Schools of Decatur's upcoming Early Release Day is Wednesday, December 20.
Pre-K - 12:15 PM
Lower Elementary - 12:50 PM
Upper Elementary - 12:15 PM
Middle School - 1:45 PM
High School - 1:35 PM
College Heights' infant through preschool program will remain on its normal schedule.
The remaining schedule of Early Release Days includes the following dates:

Wednesday, April 24
Schools will communicate more specific details related to the schedule for the day, dismissal, and extracurricular activities.
Holiday Marketplace + Café
Spread cheer with Clairemont Elementary at the Decatur Holiday Marketplace + Café! Doors open Friday, December 8th at 5:30 p.m. and close at 9 p.m. The Marketplace will reopen on Saturday, December 9th, at 10 a.m. and will wrap up for the season at 5 p.m. This historic two-day event will feature 80+ vendors, plus live music and food! ❄
CSD Participation in City of Decatur Bicentennial Parade
CSD will join the City of Decatur in celebrating its Bicentennial on Saturday, December 9. All schools and district offices are invited to join schools in participating in the parade.
Staff, students, and families will wear their CSD and school shirts and bring pom poms and noise makers. The Parade line-up begins at 2:00 p.m. at the Decatur Post Office located on Ponce de Leon Avenue.
The parade begins promptly at 3 p.m. The route is approximately one mile long. It turns right out of the Post Office parking lot onto W. Ponce de Leon Avenue. The parade will continue down Ponce right onto Church Street, right onto W. Trinity Place, ending at N. McDonough Street.

Please join us for an afternoon of fun around the campfire at Sugar Creek Garden. Decatur High School graduate, Lilly Ashe, will be leading a Taylor Swift sing- a-long!
