Columbia Central Weekly Bulletin
Week of February 26th
What's Happening This Week: 🏐🎶
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Just as a reminder, we have Parent / Teacher conferences happening Friday, March 1st. I encourage you to reach out to our teachers if you have any concerns regarding your child's performance at school or just want to check in to see how things are going for your child at this point of the school year. Report cards were mailed out on Friday, February 23.
You will see in the flyer below that our 5 Essentials survey is open to Columbia parents. We are always looking for feedback on how we can improve so please take a moment to complete the survey.
Our final boys volleyball games are happening this week. I encourage you to drop by and check out one of our games before the season ends. The track season starts next week. You will see the dates and times of practices and meets posted in future parent bulletins for the remainder of the track season. If you have any questions please reach out to our track coach, Lisa Fluga.
Our final home game for girls volleyball teams was Thursday of last week. We had a tremendous turn out of families, current students, and former students. We can't thank our parent community enough for their spirited presence throughout the 7th and 8th grade games that night. I am so proud of our student athletes that played their hearts out while exemplifying dignity, respect, and good sportsmanship. We thank our dedicated coaches, Mr. Schoff and Mrs. Siriani-Daniels.
I wish you and your family a great week!

SEL Second Step Program
Dear Parents,
In this week’s Second Step lesson, your child will evaluate possible solutions to a community problem by thinking about the points of view of the people who are affected by the problem. Your child will learn and practice several emotion-management strategies to help them make good decisions when feeling strong emotions. Your child will learn to reframe a situation by turning unhelpful thoughts into helpful thoughts.
Parents, try this at home. Ask your child to explain the difference between helpful and unhelpful thoughts. Tell your child about an unhelpful thought you had today and how you changed it to a helpful thought. Ask your child if they had an unhelpful thought and how you can support them in changing it to a helpful thought.
