MAY 2022
Peardeck VIP Opportunity
We are pleased to bring back the unique opportunity for educators who are already using Pear Deck to become building or district champions for the platform this summer. Space in this training program is limited, so we invite curriculum directors and individuals who are regular Pear Deck users to consider nominating themselves or an educator from their district for this opportunity.
This champion program helps recognize Iowa educators using Pear Deck and brings them together to share best practices, quick tips, and ideas for content area integration and SEL support. These educators can be ambassadors to support other educators in their buildings and districts. This opportunity is similar to the one offered during the summer of 2021.
The workshop is from 9:00 am-3:30 pm at the following locations:
June 22, 2022 - Heartland AEA, Ames
July 11, 2022 - Mississippi Bend AEA, Bettendorf
July 25, 2022 - Northwest AEA, Sioux City
Nominate a Pear Deck Champion to join by completing this form by June 1, 2022!

Britannica ImageQuest Coming in Aug. 2022; Clipart.com to be Discontinued
Iowa’s AEAs will offer Britannica ImageQuest as one of its digital resource offerings beginning Aug. 1, 2022. At the same time, Iowa’s AEAs will discontinue offering the Clipart.com resource on June 30, 2022. As Iowa’s AEAs sunset this product, there are two items to keep in mind:

"Across the Pond" Networking and Collaboration Opportunity PK-6 Opportunity
Laura Williams from AEA Learning Online has been networking with a fellow #changeagent from Scotland. Both are very interested in organizing some "Across the Pond" networking or collaboration around authentic learning with PK-6 Iowa educators! It might start as a simple meet and greet, having students in similar grade levels virtually connect to learn about each other's cultures/schools/geography, etc., or it may evolve into something more project-oriented.
Please fill out this survey if you are interested and to what level you may want to participate! This will help Laura and Marnie (Head Teach at the Torphichen and Westfield Primary Schools in Westfield, Scotland), coordinate these opportunities. Please forward this on to K-6 educators you think may be interested! I could see some great Social Studies connections to this opportunity.
Also, if you would like to take a peek into what schools in Scotland are like, here is the ALN Expo On-Demand video session.
