Oregon Regional Teacher of the Year!
At an early morning staff meeting this week, Patton STEM teacher Michele Reschly was surprised with the news that she has been named a Regional Teacher of the Year.
Members of the MSD School Board and Oregon Lottery staff were on hand to congratulate her – and present her with a $1,000 check!

Runtoberfest is Coming!
Help raise funds for MSD schools and have fun with the family at the same time!
Every year on the first Saturday in October, the McMinnville Education Foundation sponsors a 5K fun run/walk (with a shorter loop for younger runners) to support our schools.
After-School Programming Update
As you may have heard, there are changes coming to the district’s after-school programs and clubs. (Note: these changes do not apply to the elementary after-school care provided by Camp Fire.)

Settle in with Good Attendance
Now that the school year is in full swing, you may have time to plan for a year of good attendance.
Here’s a tipsheet with ideas from Oregon’s Every Day Matters project designed to help you build a pattern of helping your child get to school, on time, every day.
Grand Opening!
The Family Resource Center was officially inaugurated today with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, tours of the facility and a raffle for prizes!

“Thriller” Dance Event Coming!
The dance extravaganza “Thriller” event is scheduled for the first week of October.
Students of all grades are invited to attend the three-day clinic on Monday - Thursday, Oct. 2 - 5, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. to learn the iconic dance routine and then perform it at halftime of the Grizzly’s Oct. 6 football game at Wortman Stadium.

Shoutout to Buel’s Top Attenders!
Students in Mr. Gallop’s 3rd grade class (below left) and Ms. Mendoza's 1st grade class won a Golden Husky recognition this month for good attendance.
Mr. Gallop’s class had a 96.4 percent attendance rate and Ms. Mendoza’s class had 97.6 percent. Way to go, Huskies!
Plan for Upcoming No-School Days
Linfield is offering basketball camps on four fall days that students are out of school.
Camps will run Friday, Oct. 13; Thursday-Friday,Oct. 26-27; Friday, Nov. 3 and Friday, Nov. 24.

You’re Invited to a Dollars & $ense Ideas Fair!
The City of McMinnville is hosting a family-friendly event for community members to learn about the city’s budget and hear opinions on your priorities for spending.
The event is Wednesday, Sept. 27 from 5:30 - 7:30 at Civic Hall, 200 NE Second Street in McMinnville.
There will be snacks, a photobooth and children’s activities! You can also weigh in here.
