3rd Grade Art classes made a collaborative mural this week inspired by Street Artist Farid Rueda of Mexico. They looked at his work and listened to him talk about the cultural inspiration for the incredible murals he creates.
Then each student added their own designs to a piece of cut paper with oil pastels which Ms. G put together into one cool mural. Our piece was inspired by Rueda’s Night Watcher. You can learn more about Rueda at https://www.rexromae.com/farid-rueda or by visiting his Instagram page.

International Walk + Roll to School Day
International Walk + Roll to School Day is next week on Wednesday, October 4th. Everything will be happening before school at the picnic tables by the garden on the north side of the school.
Bridlemile local roads update: Shattuck has been closed between SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy and 53rd Dr due to a water main replacement by Portland Water Bureau. The current traffic control plan has been diverting traffic to SW 45th Ave. There is additional city signage on SW 45th Ave and on SW Beaverton Hillsdale Hwy due to the bike lane closure there.
During these closures, please be mindful to maintain safe driving conditions for students walking and biking, particularly on Hamilton and 45th as both of those roads do not have sidewalks. If you need help finding a safe route to school or have questions about this project please contact David Stein.
Family Game Night
The PTA is hosting Family Game Night on Friday Oct 6th (start time TBD). Featuring a Chili Cook-Off! Please email catherinestacy@gmail.com for details to enter the cook-off by Oct 3rd. We hope you can all join us for this free event to kick off the new year!

Classroom Volunteers
Bridlemile would not be the same without the work of volunteers. We thank you for considering a volunteer opportunity!
Portland Public Schools utilizes a visitor/volunteer management system for persons visiting schools. PPS is committed to ensuring our schools are safe places for our students and staff, and this system enables us to be certain we know who is in our schools at all times. Volunteers must first be approved and background checked by the district. To apply to be a volunteer, please visit pps.net/volunteer.
Letter to Parents/Guardians Regarding New Visitor/Volunteer Procedures
English | Español | Tiếng Việt | 中文 | Русский | Soomaali
If Approved
If you clear the Volunteer Background Check, you will receive an email that you are now approved to volunteer. This approval is good for three years for any PPS school.
The first time you volunteer at the school, you will need to bring a scannable government-issued identification card. More information is available on the Visitor/Volunteer Procedures webpage.
Completed and current background checks are required for all field trips. Please be sure your background status is current well in advance of signing up to help with any field trips. Thanks!
