A Slice of PIE
Where Life and Learning Meet
January 2024
Welcome back to school!
January is about new beginnings and we can see that many of you are off to a great start. Do you know why January is called January? Learn a little bit about this month at 60 Seconds History!
Introducing Ian Landy!
Ian is joining PIE as he continues โPrincipaling on the Pacificโ in the qathet school district, most recently as Principal of Technology, and previous to that as Principal at Edgehill Elementary. Ian is supported by his wife and three children as he continues to explore education topics around technology, mental wellness and personalized learning - all great parts of the PIE experience. Ian has been fortunate enough to spend time teaching in classrooms from K-12 and has loved his time as a principal-librarian and is excited to take on a K-12+ role! Ian has also worked with a number of anxious learners (including his son) and encouraging schools that work with those students who struggle with Generalized Anxiety. Ian also blogs reflections each "day of learning" at http://technolandy.wordpress.com and tweets (Xs) via @technolandy and is exploring other social media methods to learn from and share with - feel free to say โhiโ whether you see him in real life or online!

๐ธ Meet Maia!
Hi there, my name is Maia. I'm an equestrian and aspiring Veterinarian, all around animal lover. I take pride in my animal's health, care, and well being.
My YouTube channel Maia's Pet Family, started last winter as a way to educate people on proper animal husbandry, starring both my mini horses Bunni & Rosie, my rabbits, Stuart, Baby & Jaime, my dogs Toby, Dottie, Murphy, Brie, Georgie, Rubi and Penny, my rescue hamster MR. Bean, and my chickens Dash, Winter, Noodle & Debb. I also have a very special Connemara Pony, named Holly who has been a huge inspiration on my journey. Since then we have had a lot of loss, losing my best friend and beloved mini horse Bunni at only a year old, due to health complications because of her dwarfism. My hamster MR. Bean passed, being the longest living hamster from his litter. After all of the heartache, my family and I have moved houses across Vancouver Island, bought 4 acres to have a farm for ALL our animals.
I post weekly videos of all our animals from tutorial's, vlogs and more! Follow along my animal journey, by Subscribing to Maia's Pet Family!
