It was wonderful to see many families at Back to School Night on Wednesday and the Million Fathers March festivities Friday morning. We are looking forward to welcoming parent volunteers back to our campus this fall.

SICK STUDENTS: Please keep your student home and call the office if they are showing signs of illness. We have been sending students home who are not well. We appreciate you keeping our community healthy.

Teachers are in the process of creating instructional groups for staggered reading instruction. This model allows for additional differentiation and focus for reading instruction for each smaller group of students. Please be on the lookout for communication from your child's teacher about their new schedule for their school day.

Unfortunately we will not be able to supervise students when they are not in their class sessions. Please do not plan to drop off students early if they are late readers, or leave early readers during the afternoon hour. There will be no supervision provided.

Saturday Math Academy offers free tutoring for students in grades 4-6. Sessions are held from 10-11:30 on Saturdays, and are intended to support and enrich the current grade level curriculum. Sessions begin October 1. If you are interested, see the flyer below and sign up at Saturday Math Academy.

We are noticing an increase of COVID cases. La Familia is offering free COVID testing open to anyone in the Lorin Eden community. The testing takes place in front of Lorin Eden each Thursday between 8am and 11:30am. Your student may also get a free at-home test kit from the school office.

Did you know that just applying for the program for Free or Reduced Lunch, the school district has a better opportunity to get funding from the state of California? When we have more application submitted, we have more options to apply for grant funding, field study options and other opportunities to benefit our students. Even if you think you are not eligible, the application itself will serve to support our student community.

Please consider applying. The form is very easy to navigate.
