Greetings to you all and my best wishes to you and to your loved ones as we continue to navigate a world that has been turned upside down due to the pandemic.

While our students have had a serious disrupted experience, student behavior has in general been very good and we have worked hard to support our students during a very challenging time. Maintaining a sense of community and belonging has been particularly difficult during the pandemic.

While it may be a little longer before we can fully return to some of the school’s events and activities we all enjoyed before the pandemic, we very much look forward to continuing to bring alumni, students and staff together in new and exciting ways in the meantime.

My sincere thanks to you all for being part of our community. As we look to an admittedly still uncertain short-term future, I hope you agree you can be proud of our school and will continue to support us in making our school, and the impact it has, even stronger.

Our Annual Giving is one of OLM’s most important fundraising efforts and we ask for the participation of our OLM community. Computers in education have become an absolute necessity today and are so ingrained in the daily lives of our students in the classroom that not knowing computers can become a significant liability. Here at OLM, we believe in making our students future-ready. It’s for this reason that we would like to acquire new computers for each classrooms and replace and upgrade the old ones to enhance our student’s knowledge and skills.

In September 1955, Sister Claire became the founding Principal of Our Lady of Mercy School in the Westlake District of Daly City. Sister Claire, who had a way of speaking her mind, was asked by Henry Doelger, the builder of the Westlake homes, if she could use some books for the library, she said "No, but you could build me a Convent" and he did. Years later when Monsignor Richard Power, Pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Parish, asked what little thing her sisters might want at the convent, Sister Claire asked for a new wing and a chapel. She got her wish.

Sister Claire established long standing Dominican traditions at the new school. She remained the principal until 1963. Sister Claire returned to OLM on November 4, 2012 to help with the ribbon cutting for the new OLM preschool named in her honor - Sister Claire's Preschool.
