Curriculum Adoption Update: English Language Arts, Mathematics, & Sexual Health Education
Carla Lobos, Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services, and Wendy Lechelt-Polster, Director of Instruction and Assessment, shared an update on the postponement of the English Language Arts adoption, as well as the Math and Sexual Health Education curriculum adoptions scheduled for this year.
The secondary English Language Arts adoption process has been delayed due to the ongoing review of state standards by the Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI). However, we have begun the two-year process for math curriculum adoption in grades 6 - 12. In the case of sexual health education curriculum adoption, the committee is reconvening because the initially chosen materials do not meet state requirements for grades 6 - 12. The revised process will exclusively consider materials approved by the state of Washington.
The recommendation for math curriculum adoption will be made in the spring of the 2024-25 school year and a final recommendation for sexual health education curriculum in spring 2024.

The upcoming third session for Ambassadors is scheduled for January 17, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at the Three Rivers Elementary School Library. During this session, Ambassadors will learn about Instruction and Special Services.
