Our Home School Association (HSA) is excited to announce our new consolidated SignUp link for our active HSA volunteer opportunities!!

Last month we learned about sunscreen, how to choose it, and why we need to protect our bodies from sunburn and the effects of the sun’s rays, but did you know the sun can do more damage than just sunburns? Over the next few months, we will learn more about why we need sun protection.

-Did you know your body has a heating and cooling system? Regulating your body temperature is important to maintain proper functioning of your organs, and your body has different ways to either generate or ventilate heat to cool your body down.

-When the body’s cooling systems are overworked, we can experience heat related illnesses. When we start to experience any symptoms, it is important to stop all activity and move into a cool area out of the sun for treatment.

-Here is a list of a few heat related illnesses that we will learn more about:

-dehydration

-heat cramps

-heat exhaustion

-heat stroke

-heat rash

PCA uses a Virtues in Practice Program. Each month we focus on a specific virtue and different grade levels learn about a saint who exemplifies that virtue. At the end of month, there will be a family assignment to complete about the virtue. Each class will choose a Disciple of the Month based on the virtue.

February's virtue of the month is CHEERFULNESS. Cheerfulness is looking on the bright side.
