Flynn Academy Update
December Edition
Dear Flynn Families,
I hope this message finds you well as we enter the holiday season. It's hard to believe December is already here, and we have exciting updates and information to share with you.
A Big Thank You to Our PTO: We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to the PTO for organizing the fun-filled Skate City night and Chick-fil-A fundraiser. It was fantastic to see so many of you there, and we appreciate your support. Our next PTO meeting is scheduled for December 10th at 4:00 PM, and we hope to see even more of you there.
Morning Entrance: As we head into the colder months, as you’ve noticed, we've made some adjustments to our morning routines. From now on, students will enter the gym doors rather than going around the back of the school to wait. You're welcome to accompany your child in the gym until the bell rings, but please refrain from walking them to class for safety reasons.
Mid-Year Parent Survey: We value your feedback, and it plays a crucial role in our school's improvement. Please take a moment to fill out our mid-year parent survey here. Your insights are invaluable to us.
Upcoming Break: As a reminder, December 19th will be the last school day before our winter break. We'll return on January 4th, refreshed and ready for the new year.
Volunteer Opportunities: If you're interested in volunteering in the classrooms, during lunch, recess, or on field trips, please visit our office, and we'll be happy to assist you with the volunteer application process. We love having families actively engaged in our school community.
Mid-Year Testing in Math and Literacy: We want to inform you that we will be conducting mid-year testing in Math and Literacy using the Renaissance assessment tool. These tests provide valuable insights into your child's academic progress and help us tailor our instruction to meet their needs. The scores from these assessments were discussed during the last parent-teacher conferences, and we will review them again in February. We appreciate your continued partnership in your child's education.
A Note About Lunch: We've received some inquiries about students not always getting their preferred lunch choices. We reached out to our nutritional services and lunch staff, who explained that they evenly distribute the available choices throughout the day. While they strive to accommodate preferences, there may be days when your child receives their second choice. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.
As we enter this season of gratitude and giving, we want to express our appreciation for your continued support and partnership in your child's education. May you and your family have a wonderful December, filled with joy and warmth.
Best,
Dr. Chism
