On behalf of the NCCS National Honor Society (NHS) I'd like to invite you to participate in a food drive. We will collect specific food items and put together holiday food boxes for the West Linn Food Pantry. We hope to complete 25 boxes (fresh and dairy items to be added by the food pantry). We'd like all items by Monday, December 12.
Thank you and Happy Christmastime!

Come Support our 6th Graders!
The 6th grade class will be putting on their annual “Black Friday” event (much like a Christmas bazaar) on the morning of Dec. 9, in the NCCS gym, to practice economic concepts, showcase creativity, apply math concepts, practice advertising and persuasive writing, unleash creativity, and ultimately raise money for those in need (through World Vision). They use their own version of this event to bring multiple curriculum strands together in a creative project that ultimately blesses others. They also see this as a school community-building event that will hopefully be a blessing to many.
The 6th graders have been organized into teams, each creating a store, complete with a name, unique products to sell, and an advertising campaign. See flyers below for details. The stores will have a friendly competition with each other to get the most customers and raise the most money for World Vision. On the day of the event, the students will display their goods and/or services on tables in the gym. Other classes, teachers, and parents are invited to come and shop from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m on Friday, Dec. 9.
Details for this event:
Date: Friday, Dec. 9
Time: 9:00 – 10:30 a.m.
Where: The NCCS gym
Who: The 6th grade class will put on the event. NCCS classes, staff, and parents are invited to attend.
Admission: The price of admission to our “Black Friday” event will be a can of food or a boxed food item (donated to a local food bank).
Money: It would be most helpful if you bring one dollar bills for purchasing items.
Proceeds: Items are purchased with money and proceeds will go to World Vision.

Campus Improvement Project
We are completed with the first half of our Campus Improvement Project (CIP). The "Music" and "400" buildings will be next, and we will UPDATE THE GYM BREEZEWAY (install entry doors, siding, new lighting, flooring, and paint).
In order to fully complete this project, we must raise $150,000. If you are able to give to the Campus Improvement Project, please use the QR code below, or checks are also accepted through our office. We would also welcome any efforts to share this need with others in your circle of influence. Questions or inquiries should be directed to Sherri James.
Thank you to those who have already given to this significant project. You are making a difference to the future of NCCS and its mission! The annual giving letter was emailed, and a copy is found below (with a project update flyer) that will be mailed out as well. If you have someone you know that wants to bless our school with a resources to help us meet our project goals, please share this information with them.

Career Exploration Assessment for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade
NCCS will offer the ASVAB - an aptitude assessment - in January, to interested 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) measures a variety of abilities designed to predict future academic and occupational success in the military. BUT, it is administered to any student and where it provides tools to help them explore careers, without requiring an interest or a commitment to miliary service. Following the assessment, students take an interest survey, and the results of the ASVAB combined with the interest survey produce an array of possible good-fit career path options.
Parents, please let your student know if you are signing them up ~ thank you! Sign up here: ASVAB Reach out to Mrs. Moore with any questions.
Early PSAT Available to 8th, 9th and 10th grade
In February, NCCS will offer the 8th, 9th, and 10th grade versions of the PSAT for students in those grades. The purpose of taking the exam at these levels is to build familiarity with the PSAT exam and also to assess if a student is "on track" for college readiness, specifically in the core areas of math, reading, and language. This test is just one way of evaluating a student's academic strengths and abilities. The test is $14 for the PSAT 8/9 and $18 for the PSAT 10 (payable to the school office in February), and you can sign up to have your student participate at this link: PSAT 8/9 and PSAT 10 '23
Please reach out to Mrs. Moore with any questions.

Pastries with Parents: E.N.G.A.G.E.D. Seven Steps to Raising Christ Centered Kids in a Conventional World
We are going through a series, Raising Engaged Kids, available to us through RightNow Media. We will view one segment each month. Through this series we will discuss- How do we equip our kids to live authentic, meaningful, Christ-centered lives in a conventional world? RNM states that this series, "Deeply rooted in Christ-centered theology and backed up by insight from the largest and longest study of over 100,000 members of Generation Z, Raising Engaged Kids equips parents and caregivers with specific tools to see God work in and through our families. In this 9-part series, you will receive specific and practical insight that will equip you to identify God's purpose for your role and provide you with principles and a process that will transform your parenting and provide you with new freedom and fulfillment as a parent."
If you can't regularly join us during this time, please take time to view the series on your own, as it is an exceptional resource. Every family in our community has access through NCCS to RightNow Media. This is an excellent resource for Bible studies, sermons, and Christian programming.Thank you for allowing us to partner with you in discipling your children. You can find the video series at https://app.rightnowmedia.org/content/details/395510.

2022-23 School Verse Passage
Ephesians 6:13-17 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
