GMS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER SEPTEMBER 22, 2023
Good Afternoon Wolf Pack Families,
On September 19 and 20, our entire school took their first of three iReady Diagnostics in ELA and Math. iReady Diagnostics are used for two purposes: iReady results help to determine how our teaching staff can guide their instruction to help all students in remediation, pace of current content or enrichment opportunities. iReady uses the results from your student's answers to create lessons specifically designed for each child in order to improve their math and reading skills. We had most of our students complete both diagnostics during the testing window. For those students who were absent or did not finish, we hope to complete the diagnostics next week.
On Thursday afternoon, our staff participated in Professional Development. The focus of the day was for staff to create departmental goals for students to become more proficient in reading and comprehending informational text. Staff focused specifically on disciplinary literacy using vocabulary strategies to implement their goals.
There is no school on Monday of next week in observance of Yom Kippur.
Wishing you all a great long weekend!
Sincerely,
Stuart Riley
Principal, Geisler Middle School
