Fryelands Falcon Flyer
April 20, 2023
From the Principal
Dear Fryelands Families,
Next week, on Wednesday, April 26th, we honor our awesome secretaries, Mrs. Baca and Mrs. Snider, during Administrative Professionals Appreciation Week. These two wonderful ladies come to school with patience and a friendly smile every day to help our students, families, and staff have a great day. Many of you have complimented our office staff for their excellent customer service and welcoming, personal approach. We are so grateful and lucky that Mrs. Baca and Mrs. Snider are here as part of our school family. If students would like to share a drawing, card, or letter with them, please bring it by the office next week. They would love to hear from our students!
Happy Earth Day, Saturday, April 22nd, Fryelands Families!
Did you know that over 30% of the garbage we create in Snohomish County could have been recycled?
Reduce
Where you can, and when safe, walk more instead of using the car. This reduces the gas your parents will use!
Switch off electrical items, such as your lights, television and games console, when you are not using them – this will reduce the amount of energy you use!
Turn off the tap water when brushing your teeth – you’ll reduce the amount of clean water being wasted!
Reuse
When you are heading out to the store, always take your own bags. That way, you won’t use plastic bags from the store.
When something is broken, see if you can mend it or fix it instead of throwing it away!
And if it can’t be mended or fixed, see if you can find a new use for it!
Give unwanted items to charity!
And reuse scrap paper – remember you can always use both sides of a sheet of paper to draw on!
Recycle
By recycling, we are using materials from things you don’t need any more to make new products.
Instead of throwing away your food, you can turn it into really useful compost!
Always see if you can buy things made from recycled materials
Sort all your trash so that the glass, tin cans, plastic and paper can be recycled
Think about what other things can be recycled at your local recycling center, like batteries and ink cartridges
Use kitchen waste as compost in the garden.

WATCH D.O.G.S.
The Dads of Great Students WATCH D.O.G.S. program is one of the nation’s largest and most respected school-based, family, and community engagement, organizations designed and developed by educators, experts and parent & guardian volunteers over more than two decades.
Our programs for Elementary and Secondary School campuses help provide positive male role models for the students, demonstrating by their presence that education is important. Meanwhile, we provide extra sets of eyes and ears to enhance school security, reduce bullying and provide a greater sense of campus safety allowing students and teachers to focus on learning and instruction.
Who are Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students)?
Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other father figures serve on campus for one day or many each year under the leadership of a program coordinator and under the guidance of a school principal or designated administrator.
If you are interested in signing up for a day, please stop by our office to check out our Watch D.O.G.S. calendar.
