District Explores Possible Employee Health Care Clinic
The goal of an employee health care clinic would be to provide access to convenient urgent and wellness care for minimal out-of-pocket expense. Such a clinic could help ensure that CISD remains at the forefront of benefits and service for employees as well as reduce employee absenteeism and potential turnover and increase employee satisfaction.
The district is looking at different models that other Dallas-Fort Worth area schools district currently offer.
Did You Know? JPS Offers Health Services at Parkway
The district's JPS School-Based Health Center is on the Parkway Elementary School campus.
The purpose of the school-based clinic is to provide health care services and improve CISD student health and to reduce absenteeism. The JPS clinic has several examination rooms to provide each student with quality preventative health care.
When students come to the clinic, they are treated by the nurse practitioner. The nurse practitioner has additional training to diagnose and treat illnesses. They also conduct general and sports physicals, write prescriptions, give immunizations, treatment of acute illness (i.e. flu) and minor illnesses and injury, refer out for mental health services, treat ongoing medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and allergies, teach family and children about eating healthy and exercise.
Students attending CISD and their siblings up to 25 years of age who resides within CISD boundaries are eligible for JPS services. No child will be refused services because of the inability to pay.
The daily hours of operation of the clinic are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and Friday and 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
