Dear Parents / Carers,
This week has flown by as teachers review assessments, write reports and plan for the last 3 weeks of term. This includes meetings with the next teachers to hand over class and pupil information ready for the new school year. With this on-going, I can now let you know the teaching structure for next year. We have a large Reception intake for September which will mean mixed classes across EYFS and key Stage 1 again and pupils in these year groups will be bringing home a note today to say which class they will be in next year. Current Year 2 and above will move up in their complete year groups.
Reception - Bears - Mrs Young (3 days) & Mrs Skelton (2 days)
Reception/Year 1 - Bees - Mrs Westfeld
Year 1/ Year 2 - Hummingbirds - Mrs Slater (4 days) & Mrs Skelton (1 day)
Year 2 - Tigers - Mrs Fitzpatrick (4 days) & Mrs Bembridge (1 day)
Year 3 - Sharks - Mrs Bembridge (2 days) & another teacher TBC 3 (days)
Year 4 - Earthworms - Miss McHale (soon to be Mrs Harrison)
Year 5 - Jaguars - Mr Symes
Year 6 - Wolves - Mrs Cameron
Miss Exton, Mrs Savage and Miss Hendrickson will be moving on to pastures new and we wish them well in their new ventures and Miss McHale will be getting married during the holidays and returning in September as Mrs Harrison. Congratulations to her and her husband to be!
We are interviewing on Wednesday for the additional teacher in Year 3 and I will update you on the successful candidate next week. The children will be able to meet them on our moving up day on 16th July.
The big rise in numbers that we have seen lately and continue to see means that all classes below Year 4 will be full in September.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

Staff Thank You's
If anyone would like to say thank you to or has any positive comments for a member of staff then please complete and submit the form below.
Firstly thank you to those who have been in touch regarding FOKF and our appeal for support and new members. It is intended that the EGM will be held around 14th September 2021, this will be confirmed by the end of the Summer Term.
With the COVID pandemic, it has been difficult to continue with our fundraising efforts, new member recruitment and other activities, however it is hoped that things can resume in the New School Year. If you are interested in joining us, here is a little synopsis of what we do.
Like most PTA’s the majority of our funds are raised through the events that we run. Our main fundraising events are the Christmas and Summer fairs, but we also hold school discos, curry evenings, quiz evenings, treasure hunts, bingo events and also cake stalls and raffles. We regularly provide refreshments at school events, e.g. the Christmas nativity performances and at the end-of-year celebrations. At Christmas we also, arrange for each child to create their own Christmas card design, of which parents and carers can order printed cards and tea towels to send to family and loved ones (we receive a proportion of the income). Throughout the year we have bag to school collections where you can donate second hand clothing which can be reused and we get a donation for this.
Every little helps, we welcome help from parents, teachers and friends and other volunteers. It may be assisting at an event, sorting out prizes, games or a bit of administration work. It may be that you want to join the committee as one of the helpers or perhaps even consider taking on one of the Committee positions and get really involved in the running of the charity. Whether you have hours or simply 5 minutes, every little helps and is greatly appreciated. Without the support of the wider school community we would not be able to raise the funds and purchase the resources and the nice, fun things our children.
If you would like to join Us, please speak to one of the committee members, come along to our next meeting or email us on friends@kf.starmat.uk We also have a Facebook page that you can follow and use to message Us on.

It’s nearly the Summer holidays, and to get you excited we wanted to help start you and your pupils’ creative skills flowing.
NYES Catering is excited to announce our 2021 Bake Off Competition! What masterpiece will your pupils create?
Brief
We want pupils to set their creative minds free, and design and make a sweet or savoury item to rival the official Great British Bake Off entries – pupils can be as adventurous with this task as they like, but they must contain either a fruit or vegetable. We also would love to hear why they’ve chosen their item, and the fun they had creating it!
We’ve enlisted the help of fantastic local baker and business owner Victoria Quilter of Tor Bakes Cakes to judge along with our two in-house judges. Victoria (Tor) started baking when she was a young girl, which quickly developed into a passion for baking; ultimately leading her to opening her own baking business, Tor Bakes Cakes, a couple of years ago. Tor can’t wait to see all of the creative and tasty looking entries!
The 2021 NYES Catering Star Baker will win a personalised baking set and a baking session (for the winner and two friends) with the NYES Catering Team over the Summer holidays.
We will also share a couple of our favourite baking recipes to help aid with the creative mind flow!
How to enter
Simply email a photo of your pupils’ bake off item or your pupil and their item, along with the recipe and name of the item, and why they’ve chosen the fruit/vegetable within their item to: charlotte.firth@northyorks.gov.uk
Please include the pupils’ name, age, and details of the school they attend.
Please limit the entries to 1 entry per pupil/child.
Deadline: 20:00 on Sunday 25th July 2021
The winners will be announced on Wednesday 4th August 2021 and the winning entry will be published on our website and social media.
