Newsletters
As we kick off a new year of learning and excitement in our elementary schools, we're thrilled to announce a positive change to our monthly newsletter - it's going digital!
For years, we've relied on paper copies to share school news, upcoming events, and important announcements. However, in keeping with our commitment to sustainability and embracing technology, we've decided to take our newsletter online.
Here's what this means for you:
Convenience: Access the newsletter anytime, anywhere from your phone, tablet, or computer. No more waiting for it to arrive in your mailbox or searching for past issues.
Enhanced content: Enjoy interactive features like videos, photo galleries, and links to additional resources. We can now share information in a more dynamic and engaging way.
Improved communication: Receive instant updates about school events and announcements through email notifications. Stay informed and connected like never before.
Environmentally friendly: Reduce paper waste and contribute to a greener school community.
How to access the newsletter:
Visit our school website at https://www.dovertornadoes.com/default.aspx and click on your child’s campus then the "Newsletter" tab.
A new link will be posted every month
We will also send an email notification directly to your primary email address on file and send it out via text message.
Don't worry, we're here to help! If you're not comfortable accessing the newsletter online, please don't hesitate to reach out to the school office. We're happy to provide assistance and answer any questions you may have.
We believe this move to an online newsletter will be a positive step forward for our school community. It will allow us to share information more effectively, engage with parents in a more dynamic way, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Thank you for your continued support! We look forward to connecting with you through our new digital newsletter.

District Safety Update
Ensuring the safety of students at school is a top priority for us. We strive to create a safe and welcoming environment for all students every day. In case of an emergency, we have an automated call/email system in place that can be used to quickly communicate with parents. This system enables us to alert all parents or parents of students in a particular school when there is an ongoing situation that they should be aware of. It is also utilized when a situation calls for specific actions such as evacuations, lockdowns, or changes in school-wide procedures, among others, to keep our children safe. It is crucial that we have updated contact information for all our families at all times, and we encourage you to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have.
Change of Transportation
If there are any changes in your child's end-of-the-school day transportation procedures, please be sure to send a note to your child's teacher. If the teacher does not receive a note from you, your child will be sent home using their normal routine. Please do not send transportation changes through email or ClassDojo, as it may not be received in a timely manner. You are encouraged to call the school office with any last-minute changes by 2:30.
Child Find Efforts Special Education Pupil Search
Through Public Law-IDEA, school districts around the state of Ohio are joining together in an effort to identify, locate, and evaluate children from birth through age twenty-one who may have disabilities such as physical, emotional, visual, hearing, speech, and learning disabilities. Many unidentified children with disabilities are preschoolers, and parents may not be aware their child has a disability or that there are programs and services available to assist them. Anyone who knows of a child, who may have a disability, should contact Gina Franks, Dover City Schools' Student Services Coordinator, at 330-364-7124.
Lost & Found
If your child has lost their hat, lunchbox, coat, or water bottle, there is a good chance it may be in the school's Lost and Found. All found items are collected and placed in the Lost and Found bin located in the lobby area. To ensure the speedy return of your child's belongings, please label them. However, if your child has lost something this school year, it's important to check the bin as soon as possible.
Winter Weather
Let's stay warm!
As the temperatures are dropping and winter weather sets in, it is important to remember to send warm clothing such as a coat, gloves, and hat with your child to school. Our children will still go outside for recess, unless the temperature is dangerously low. Additionally, if your child is dropped off or walks to school, please ensure that they are not arriving too early as they will not be allowed to enter the building until 8:40 AM. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance in keeping our students warm and safe during the winter season.
2-Hour Delay
On a 2-hour delay, all schools will open two hours later than normal and will end at the regular time.
