Leadership FUNd Run
What a fantastic two days of running during our annual Fund Run! Our 157 students ran 516,111 steps during the event which is approximately 18,028 laps or 265 miles! Congrats to all our amazing runners and thank you to our faculty and staff for their support throughout the event. We will pass out individual bags with medals and bracelets next week along with lap certificates! Thank you to all our families for your donations and to our amazing FUNd Run Family Sponsors!
S.T.E.A.M. Week!
We celebrated STEAM Week - Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math in style this week. Our classes explored and experimented with Air & Water, Birds, the Human Body, Insects, the Food Chain & Biodiversity, Chair Engineering, Recycling, and more! Students presented their projects and conducted a Virtual Assembly as well. Please check out all the great projects above. Thank you to our students and faculty for all your hard work!
May Break/No School - Mon., 5/3
The school will be closed on Monday, May 3rd for a May Break. We will see you back on campus on Tuesday.
AIS Board Meeting - Tue., May 4, 6:30 pm
The AIS Board of Directors originally scheduled for this week was moved to this Tuesday, May 4th at 6:30 pm. Members of our community are welcome to join the Open portion of the meeting and may provide comments at the conclusion.
Teacher Appreciation Week - 5/4 - 5/7
Let's show our faculty just how awesome they are each day next week! Families may demonstrate their appreciation however they would like all week, but here are some themed ideas to spread the love.
- 5/4: Treat Day - Give your teachers their favorite snack or tasty treat (in prewrapped packaging)
- 5/5: Something Handmade - Students may make a special card or deliver anything especially handmade
- 5/6: Flowers - Deliver a special bloom to your educators or something flower-themed
- 5/7: Pick me up - The PTO will deliver custom coffee drinks for each staff member. Families may shower teachers with anything they wish on Friday.
Head of School Coffee - Thur., 5/6
This month's virtual coffee is actually a Head of School community coffee. Join Mr. Jacques on Thursday, May 6th from 9 am to 10 am to chat and visit.
School Picture Days - Wed. & Thur., 5/12 - 5/13
We are very excited to announce that we will be using Captured Austin Photography for our school pictures this year! Please click this link for more information about picture days at AIS, to read about Captured Austin's modern school portraits, and to learn how you can purchase digital prints, regular prints, and fine art prints of your child(ren). Once the proofs are ready, we will send you a link, where you can make your purchases online, directly through the photographer.
CP-CM2 classes will be photographed on 5/12, and PS-GS and Middle School classes will be photographed on 5/13; however, sibling photographs will be taken on both days. Please look over this schedule carefully, since your child may need to be dressed for pictures on both days. *Please note that due to our COVID protocols it is not possible to photograph all classes and all siblings in one day. Read the information carefully, since some siblings may need to come dressed for pictures both days.*
We will continue to uphold AIS COVID protocols throughout picture days. Cohorts will be kept separate, and students will not be sitting or touching any props for their photographs. Students will remain masked at all times, except for their individual and sibling portraits, where they will remove their masks momentarily. During their individual and sibling portrait, all other students and adults will be physically distanced from your child(ren), masked, and outdoors. Students will have their masks in hand during their photographs so they can be replaced immediately, once the photos are taken. Masks will be worn for all group photos.
