Special Visit from Author: Chris Harris is coming to Tinc
Tinc Road School is thrilled to announce that we will be enjoying an Author visit with Chris Harris on Friday November 3rd! He will be providing two different presentations -- one for grades K-2 and another for grades 3-5. We are working with Sparta Bookstore to help promote his newest title "My Head has a Bellyache" and provide an opportunity for students to purchase copies of his books. Please use the link below to order copies of his newest book or a copy of one of his prior releases. All books purchased through the order form linked below will be personalized and signed by Chris! Orders must be placed by October 23rd.
ABOUT THE BOOK:
In the follow-up to his New York Times bestselling poetry book I’m Just No Good at Rhyming, Chris introduces readers to a world of creativity, kooky conundrums, witty wordsmithing, and wacky laugh-out-loud fun! A modern-day Shel Silverstein, Chris has created a collection with plenty of easter eggs for adults to enjoy, and a witty sophistication to some of the poems and riddles that will keep older readers hooked.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Chris is the New York Times bestselling author of I'm Just No Good at Rhyming: And Other Nonsense for Mischievous Kids and Immature Grown-Ups, illustrated by Lane Smith; The Alphabet's Alphabet, illustrated by Dan Santat; and If You Laugh, I'm Starting This Book Over, illustrated by Serge Bloch. He currently serves as showrunner and executive producer for the new Frasier. Previous TV writing credits include How I Met Your Mother, Acapulco, and The Late Show with David Letterman. His pieces have appeared in the New Yorker, Esquire, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and on NPR.

TRS ART Studio
Student artists have been busy exploring and experimenting with a variety of drawing media and tools. The are showing responsibility by demonstrating how to set up and clean up their workspace. They will create their first WOW artwork (wonderful original work of art) and were asked the question “Where do artists get ideas?” Artists identified the following strategies for generating ideas: observation, imagination, emotions, memories and mark-making. If you are interested in learning more about what else is happening in our T.A.B. classroom click here or follow us on X (Twitter) @TincRoadArtStudio.
Once these activities are complete the Drawing Center will be officially open! YAY! Next we will be learning about collage techniques, as well as what supplies and tools we can find in the Collage Center. Each artist’s WOW artwork is planned and created based on your child’s interests and ideas, the artwork they create becomes more meaningful to them and often tells a story.
Please be sure to ask your artist about their artwork and what they are learning in art. Each one is completed with an artist statement and will be saved to use for the art show on May 9th so mark your calendars! We are always looking for volunteers to help out in the Art Studio. If interested, please check out our signup HERE.
