Camp Road Cougar News
October 16, 2022
Hello CRMS Family,
It has come to my attention that there may be confusing information circulating, so I am reaching out to our school community in the spirit of transparency.
On Friday, October 14, one student experienced a medical emergency on campus. The student's family has given permission to share that the student is recovering well.
Separately, there was an unrelated need for emergency services to provide additional support on campus.
Initially, on Friday, I did not alert the CRMS family as the information involved sensitive and legally protected information. I am sharing - what I can - now in hopes of stemming confusion or misinformation.
Additionally, I have learned of confusion stemming from a student discipline issue from Friday. As you know, student discipline is not something that I can discuss other than to say that it is taken incredibly seriously. You have my word that the administration at CRMS will always investigate thoroughly and take action swiftly, as prescribed by the Charleston County School District Progressive Discipline Plan.
Please know that I have an open-door policy should a member of your family or any student experience or have first-hand knowledge of a situation that would warrant disciplinary action. I appreciate, in advance, your collaboration in sharing concerns so that they are addressed rapidly.
The CRMS school community is close, and committed to education. I feel lucky to be a part of it. Thank you for the outpouring of concerns for our CRMS family member and - in advance - working collaboratively with members of my administrative team and me to ensure that student discipline matters are addressed in ways that ensure student safety and protect a positive and productive academic environment.

Data Conference Day - October 21
October 21st is designated as a data conference day. These data conferences are optional, and you have through December 16th to schedule an optional conference. Educators can review your child's data (state test scores, MAP, attendance, etc.). If interested, please use the appropriate link below. Please note that this is strictly an optional conference to review data; if you wish to speak with teachers regarding quarterly grades, assignments, etc., please contact the teachers or a school counselor. If you can not attend on October 21st and would like to set a conference on another date, please complete this form.
All student data dashboards will be sent home with Quarter 2 progress reports on December 1st if a conference has not been scheduled.

Save the Date! Family “Campout” Nov.3, 5-7 pm
We’re planning the third annual (break for pandemic) Family Literacy night, better known as The Campout! We want our students and their families to come enjoy a free spaghetti dinner and enjoy short, informative sessions of your choice to learn more about what is available to support learning for our students.
We will have sessions for parents/guardians, our middle schoolers, and their younger siblings. Look for more specific information and a sign-up in next week’s news.
JICHS Pre-IB Information Night
I am excited to share that James Island Charter High School will be hosting a PreIB Information Night and Expo on Thursday, November 3rd at 6 pm.
The event will focus on the unique approach and advantages of an International Baccalaureate education at JICHS. All families interested in having their student pursue coursework in the IB Diploma Programme are invited to attend.
Families can expect to speak with IB faculty as well as current students to learn about the community, rigor and holistic development that defines an IB education.

School Technology Information You Need to Know...
Students should NOT bring their Chromebook chargers to school. Please charge devices at home each evening. Chargers tend to disappear at school, and we have no way to track them. Students will be responsible for the cost of replacing lost chargers, so please don’t let your student bring the charger to school!
A reminder about the CCSD fee structure for damages and loss of chromebooks:
- Negligent/Accidental Breakage - No charge for first incident per school year $50 per incident for each subsequent event
- Intentional Vandalism - $300.
- Stolen Device - No cost if a police report is provided
- Lost Device - $300
- Lost Charger - $40
