Program Planning
Program Planning- It is time to pick courses
Students are to pick their courses for next year now through March 7th in Student or ParentVue. You can access the guide Here. Please see the Program Planning Website for additional information and resources to assist.
How many credits do I pick?
- Students must pick at least 6 credits worth of courses for students in grades 11 and 12, but no more than 7.34, credits
- Students in grades 9 and 10 are to take 7 credits. The exception is if a student is scheduling a science class that has a lab associated with it. (such as Chemistry or Physics) In this case a student can pick 6.17 or 7.17 credits.
- All students are to pick alternates to their electives as we cannot guarantee that a student, regardless of grade, will be able to get into the classes they request.
Classes with Labs and courses that might be able to schedule with them
- Our upper level science classes, beginning with Chemistry have an additional period each cycle for their lab.
- Sometimes, it is possible to schedule an elective around this lab.
- Our electives are 6 days a cycle however there is a list of classes that might be able to be conflicted with a lab if it fits into the schedule.
- Courses which might be possible to conflict with a lab class (if it fits into the scheduled period)
- Art: Survey of Art, Ceramics I and II, Foundations of Art, Studio Art I and II, Digital Photography, Graphic Design I and II.
- Business: All, except AP Computer Science and AP Computer Science Principles
- English: Journalism, Nova Lab and Yearbook
- Health and PE: PE courses
- Music: All except AP Music Theory and Music 101
- Social Studies: check with counselor for possibilities for certain AP courses
- Special Education: check with case manager regarding the possibility to conflict Instructional Seminar
- TV Production: TV Production
- If students pick electives that cannot fit with the lab, they will not get that course and will be scheduled for a study hall.
- Students who do not wish to have the study hall should meet with their counselor to discuss other options such as taking a virtual high school course.
Course Overrides
- If a student wishes to take a core class (English, Social Studies, Math or Science) different than what was recommended by their current teacher, an override form might be needed.
- A form is not required if the course is the same level (ie honors, AP)as the recommended course.
- A form is required if a student wishes to change levels (from our Core level to Honors, from Honors to AP, etc)
- The core classes are locked in though and those changes must be made through the counselor.
- Forms are available through the students' counselor.
The LAST date to make changes to requests for the 24-25 school year is March 31, 2024.

Nurses' News
Illness at School
The following procedure should be followed if a student becomes ill at school:
Students are expected to report to the nurse’s suite if they are not feeling well. A parent/guardian will be called if the nurse determines the student is too ill to remain in school, has a temperature of 100.0F and above, or vomiting/diarrhea.
A prearranged early dismissal by the student/ parent for illness is considered an early dismissal. Should a parent/guardian need to have a student dismissed from school before the regular time for special or urgent reasons, the parent/guardian should send a written request or email that includes the reason, date, time, and signature of a parent/guardian. Early dismissals will be recorded as class absences.
The student must be fever free for 24 hours without the use of medications (i.e. Tylenol or Advil), and 24 hours without vomiting or diarrhea before returning to school.
Students are not allowed to be sent home in an Uber, Lyft, taxi, etc.

SAFE2SAY
Our students can submit an anonymous tip through the Safe2Say Program. Tips are typically related to a variety of challenges our students experience or witness, such as bullying, harassment, disrespectful language, safety concerns, etc. When a tip is received, the State (who runs Safe2Say) immediately follows up with building administrators
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline
Did you know that the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is now known as the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline?
When people call, text, or chat 988, they will be connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing Lifeline network. These trained counselors will listen, understand how their problems are affecting them, provide support, and connect them to resources if necessary.
