Message from the Principal
Dear OLA Families,
Many of us in OLA are shaking our heads because FALL 2022 ended so quickly. Here we are getting close to the official start of Winter and for some of us, we have already seen snow! As we head into this colder weather, it is important to review the “SNOW DAY” and “LATE START” procedures. While we are indeed online, PPS staff follow a contract that requires OLA to close when PPS closes. While some families have all of their students in OLA, other families do not. In anticipation of potential snow days or late starts, please check local radio stations and television stations for school closure/schedule information. You can also find more detailed information on the PPS website here.
During weeks with cold weather, district office staff monitor the road conditions carefully, starting very early in the morning.
The district office team determines if there needs to be a closure, late start or buses on snow routes.
A message will be sent out district wide with the information you will need for the day.
A follow-up message will come out on the OLA.PPS.NET website (front page) from the OLA admin team with specific information for the day.
Our Fall Conferences were lightly attended so we want to extend an invitation to all families to reach out to the OLA teachers if you have any questions about your student’s progress. At this time all 6-12 students are considered “on pace” if they are at about 50% complete with each course by December 16. While we do want students to relax and recharge during the Winter break, it is also a good time to catch up if they are not at 50% by that date.
We hope that families enjoy the Winter Season. Thank you for all your support of OLA this year!

School Pictures - Update
We are happy to announce that all student pictures and ID cards have been received, for those who were photographed in October. They are ready for pick up at the Holladay Annex building. Stop in at your convenience (Mon-Fri 8a-4p).
Address: 7100 SE Division St, Portland, OR 97206 (Please park on SE 71st St; do not use the parking lot since that is reserved for the other program in this building). Follow the stairs to the OLA entrance on the corner of 71st and SE Division.
High School Students: Your student ID cards are attached to a Trimet HOP Card, so you can use public transportation services. We need you to fill out this OLA HOP Card Form before you pick up your ID. The HOP Cards are now available for those who were photographed in October. If you did not attend picture day in October, make sure you attend make-up day next week.
Picture Make-Up Day: We will have our picture make-up day on Wednesday, December 7th, from 2:00p-5:30p. Please use the OLA Myconferencetime Schedule to book your appointment.

Hello OLA Students and Families!
Have you thought about what school your 5th and 8th grader will be attending next year? Probably not because it is only November! However, Portland Public has options for your child outside of their current school. They are called Focus Option Schools. These schools have programs centered around specific subjects like science and the arts. They also require an application. The window for these applications start November 15th. Please click on this link below for more detailed information. If you have any questions, please reach out! rmate@pps.net

Tech Help Desk/Chromebooks - Important Information
Hello. The process for picking up a PPS chromebook for your students has two methods. One is to call the OLA help desk at 503-916-3375 and press 2 . Please leave your student full name, ID number, and a phone number to contact you at. Another way is fill out this form by clicking on this link: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScbJp_A-UDV7Mf39czFZsmJDg5sgGj4qPVDPNJ-1H0cOMSfhg/viewform
If you have any older chromebooks and power cables from a student's previous school please bring them in when you come to get a new device.
Here are a few tips to keep your tech working.
At least once a week the device should be powered down and turned back on. This will allow for updates to install and give the system a chance to refresh.
