MIDDLE SCHOOL SOUTH
October 13, 2023
This Week at GMSS
From the Desk of Ms. Murdock
Good afternoon!
Next Friday is the last day of the first quarter! Grades will be finalized and ready for your viewing on Friday, October 27th.
As we have wrapped up the first quarter, it is our expectation that students are transitioning to the expectations and responsibilities of middle school. We are certainly continuing to work with our students and support them. We are, however, seeing an increase in hands on behaviors (typically starts with playing around), carrying back packs after multiple conversations, etc. It is important to know that in middle school, these behaviors can come with larger consequences such as Saturday schools, in school suspensions and out of school suspensions. It is our number one goal to keep all students safe and in a positive learning environment. Thank you for your continued support and partnerships.
Lost & found- If you have been in the building you will see the very large collection of Lost & Found- including 30 coats, 10 lunch boxes, 60 sweatshirts and 32 water bottles! I am speechless! This is located directly outside of the cafeteria. Please swing by and collect items as we do not hold items all year. Left items will be donated at the end of each quarter. The end of this quarter is next Friday, October 20th.

I am so excited to tell you about the *Color Games Fundraiser* happening here at our school! We kicked off the program last week and the Color Battle Event will happen next Thursday, October 19th.
This week has been a lot of fun, with all the students at school participating in daily games and classroom challenges. We have more challenges coming up this week and all students can win those challenges, regardless of the money raised. Please encourage your student to log in to his/her donation page and share the fundraiser with people that he/she thinks can support our school!
Here's the important part! Funds raised this year will be used for Field trips, PBIS Incentives, Student Activities and Clubs. If you can help, below is the link to donate:
https://myapexevent.com/gahanna-south-middle-school-color-games
There you will have the option to select your student (participant) for the donation to count towards him/her and towards our class as well. Please help us reach our goal by talking to family & friends about donating on behalf of your student. If you prefer to make a cash/check donation simply put the donation in an envelope with your student's full name and have it delivered to the front office. *Checks should be made payable to GMS PTO*.
Thanks for your ongoing support!
